Mathews Prestige Bow - String Suppressors

TimujinTimujin Member Posts: 11 ✭✭
Hi all

Just joined and happy to be here. I need some advice, if anyone can assist.

I've just last week bought a Mathews Prestige compound bow and really love it. There is however a small problem developing. The rubber string suppressor block under the idler cam is starting to develop stress marks in it where the string touches it and this after only a week's use.

On another archery forum I read where an owner who has had one of these bows for two weeks had his idler cam block break away completely.

Anyone else have this problem? And is it fixable - other than replacing blocks every couple of weeks?

Help and advice really appreciated

Depending on how often and how much you shoot the string suppressors always go bad. I have to change mine on my outback about every 3 months.

Many thanks for that. So it's normal wear and tear. Good. I was worried there might be something wrong with the set up or the blocks themselves.

    I'm greatly relieved.

    Thanks again[:)]

One question I have, why a Prestige? With that short of brace height I figured it would be unforgiving as all get out. Kinda like the Black Max I shot once and realized if you creap it's going off[:D]

I was after a lighter mass weight bow because I shoot FITA target rounds and having a bit less weight to hold up is a big plus over a long match

I tried the bow before I bought it and was stunned at its smoothness and ease of draw and hold. I was a bit leery of the brace height too but it simply isn't an issue.

The thing shoots like a dream and is as "forgiving" ( if you believe in that term) as any bow I have ever shot.

AS you can guess, I really like it.[:D][:D][:D]

I had to get the blue/black fade as it was the only colour avaiable but it is very classy looking and I'm delighted with it.

    Thanks for the welcome[:)]

No the limbs are black too. I don't hunt anymore - just target shoot.
    Too bloody old and tired[:)]

The bow is 50 to 60lbs and I'm working back up to the full 60 again after an illness. Draw length is 29 inches and I shoot Cartel Triples and X10s, use a TruBall Chappy Boss release with a Davis - the System sight, Titan 6x scope, GKF Infiniti rest, Doinker A Bomb Elite Carbon Long Rod and Specialty Archery Peep.

    What about you?
