Time for a new topic: Alpine bows, anybody else shoot them:are they any good

hunter280manhunter280man Member Posts: 705
I have a "teton clasic" with split limbs, one-cam, bo-doodle rest and a hollow sight. I've always shot instinctivly till I went elk hunting in Colorado, needed the extra range. What does anyone think of this set-up,or what do you shoot?

hunter280man, Most coumpound bows manufactured today are of great quality its just personal preference. If you bounce from one bow to another you will never be satisfied. You didnt mention any more on your set up like draw weight, draw length, arrow size, weight and length.Confused!!!! dont be just go to a local pro shop they can help.My set up is a martin pride set at 68 pounds,Z cams,31 inch 2514 easton arrows, nap center rest flipper rest,125 grain field points and 125 grain broadheads with a 5 arrow quiver.I also use a release and a peep. This set up for me works great for I have taken deer, elk, bear, antelope, coyote and lots of small game.As for distance dont shoot any farther than your limit.Just try to keep it as simple a set up as you can.I am not a pro, just a very seasoned bowhunter.Remember PRACTICE- PRACTICE-PRACTICE. Goodluck.

I was just trying to get this board moving again after the crossbow issue it looked like it died-off. I was more curious of what members thought of the brand of bow and the hardware rather than the peak performance. I shoot 63# with easton 2314 28 inches long draw.

Had a holosight on my PSE & really liked it except for the weight. If you go back to CO to hunt you will need a new sight. No battery operated devices attached to bow allowed in 2002. I replaced mine with a Trophy Ridge Flatliner & am well pleased.

Damn we where going in august again, I'll just have to try a few more out, maybe the HCA bracket with a crosshair. I already own the 90.00 adjustable bracket. Do you think I can use the holosight on my turkey gun? Not sure if the vertical is adjustable.

I think you could use the holo sight on a turkey gun. You might have to shim the base to adjust the elevation although I really don't know. Mine was the Bushnell model, with internal adjustments, made for a gun. I also used it on my single shot pistol & had good results. I'll be in CO for the 1st week of Archery Elk. If you are in the Hayden/Craig area maybe we'll run into each other.
