Pole Chain Saws

Thinking about buying my dad one of those pole chain saws for Christmas. Do they work good or are they a pain? I figure I'll go with a Stihl since my family seems to be a bit racists towards other brands. [:D] Chain saws, weed eaters, leaf blowers, hedge trimmers, you name it, if they make we got one in somebody's garage. [:D]
