do you eat/drink while in your stand. I see so many worry about scent then take a big thermos of coffee into the stand.

I am not one to usually sit for hours on end. When I am hunting, I hunt in the morning, and in the afternoon, but usually leave the stand in between. I hunt fence rows so often that getting in and out the woods is easy. So, to answer your question, no I don't eat/drink in the stand. Although I have been known to take a 3 musketeer bar with me. I have been known to eat and drink lots of different things. Usually jerky, apples, cheese, sandwiches, water, hot cider, and others. Usually during the periods when I expect less to happen. Like when most people are thinking about getting out of the tree, is when I have my snack. Then I sit quiet again after. On days of good weather I have been known to sit all day in one or two trees. My climber stand is so comfortable; I even get a nap in most days.

Now a different question... somewhat related. How many urinate out of your stand? I know people who go in a bottle and carry it out. I, for one, just go out of my stand, and have never seen a deer spooked by it. I'm not sure they can tell the difference between * urine, fox urine, and human urine.

And one more... for those addicted... Do you smoke or chew in your stand. I did, until I kicked the habit for good a few years ago.

I have a big write up where a guy used his own urine in mock scrapes and killed some nice bucks.... dont smoke anymore so that is not an issue.

I have never had the urge to urinate in the tree yet. If I did I'd just let'er fly. I try to make sure I take care of things before I go out.

I chewed in stand, never had a problem with deer near me. For a while I chewed kodak wintergreen. I just had a problem putting the arrow where it was supposed to be. Glad that time is behind me.

Drink water and chew. Had a doe come to the base of the tree where I'd spit and lick on it. When nature calls I will climb down and go. To me urine is to be on the ground not 15' in the air.[:D] If I plan on being out all day I will snack on a snickers or cheese&peanutbutter crackers. If my son is with me than there are lots of snacks.

I usually bring peanut butter sandwiches, water and whiz off my stand if it's not too windy.[:D] With my luck as soon as I climb down to go here comes the deer with my bow still hanging on the harness strap.[B)]

No I just sucked at that time and didn't have very good or proper equipment.

However, caffine does give me the shakes some times. I don't really notice with my hunting bow, cause it does make me shoot to far from the mark. But with my other bow it makes a big difference.

I've known guys who will pee off of their stand and deer will come up and lick it.
Half of the lives they tell about me aren't true.

I went out tonight. No snacks, but I did bring jawbreakers and a bottle of green tea. I am addicted to that stuff, and don't know why. Only thing moving this heat (was 86 on the way to the stand) was a couple of tree rats. Took a shot at one at 30 or so yards. Very close, but missed.

Plastic (sometimes frozen) bottles of water or Mt. Dew are my usual beverage choices when in the stand. Snacks are usually something like peanuts, a not-to-crunchy/loud trail mix or candy bars. I try not to contaminate the area around my stand in any way, so I pee in a bottle and pack it out - - I can't tell if it makes any difference, but I'm superstitious.

I was told when your scentlock or scent blocker, whaterever you use, does not contain the smell of a fart it is time to re-activate the carbon. Seems to work for me.

I friend of mine told me that he made up a mock scrape and pissed in it everyday for several days and the deer scraped over it multiple times so I don't think they can tell the difference or if they can they don't seem to mind

Don't know if there is any scientific evidence behand it but I find that my body stays warmer on those cold days (cold means at least 10 degrees or colder here in ND)If I keep well hydrated. The cold pulls a lot of moisture from the body.
