I scored a BIG one MORE PICTURES

Too bad this one was with a rifle and not elligible for the contest. Or can I get a ruling on that since it was within bow range? 40 yards. No good total score yet, but 21" wide longest G2 is 7". First buck I have shot in 9 years.
Oh and sorry about the hair do... It has been a long week at camp.

Ok. I have a little time tonight. I did everything wrong on this one. No shower for 2 days, dirty clothes, fell asleep in the stand for an hour or so, started eating out of a noisy wraper, and still got him in to 40 yards before I saw him.
Then the bad part started. First shot was quartering tward me and he just stood there. Second shot was quartering away, and he took 3 steps. Third shot missed... my bad. Fourth shot broadside and he finally tried to run. This was in a 2 minute time period and with a 30-06. I know I could have made better shots with my bow, but not the right season.

Now for another question... How much are mounts going for in your area?

NICE buck! Yeah, too bad it can't go into the contest! Guess that means that my team is still in the lead![}:)] DARN![:D][:o)] Most of the "BIG" name guys that mount deer in my area are charging $400-500. Some of the lesser guys are going for $300-400. I'm paying a little over $300 for mine and should be getting it back ANY time already! I got mine in early and he wasn't busy yet![:D]

    Nice buck! Congrats!

Around here they go between $120 & $180 for someone with no shop just doing it out of their garage. Someone going it for a living a probably a better mount is between $300-$375.

Wow! I guess taxidermy is spendy here in Minnesota. Most here are around 450. One in Wisconsin was 600! I am taking it to the same guy that is doing my pheasant. He does good work. I am also taking my FIL's drop tine buck in to him too. Maybe he will cut me a break on the cost since I am doing 3 in one year. If not oh well, he still does good work.

I scored my buck on the link in the contest thread... It came out...

    Boone & Crockett / Pope & Young 142 5/8 with 9 6/8 deduct

    Buckmasters Trophy Records 133 6/8 with 2 4/8 deduct

    Safari Club International 154 7/8
