I have some, not sure of the brand though. I think I killed one maybe two deer with them, but I deel more comfortable with a fixed three blade instead. I thought they seemed sticky when you release the blades.

I still shoot fixed blade. I don't think I'll change. If you don't achieve accuracy w/ your fixed blades then switch. Otherwise, I wouldn't fix what ain't broke.

Tried expandables once while target shooting. They shot well but had a few that didn't open. So I'll stay with my Thunderhead fixed blades....I know that they'll be open when they reach the target.

What difference would an expandable make on the inside of a critter versus a fixed blade?? There are really no ballistics to speak of.

Never tried expands. still using Magnus Stingers and getting good accuracy and great penetration and as Ben said "if it ain't broke don't fix it".

rtnhwob With the expandables I got better penetrations than with my 1 inch muzzys and the expandables have a 2 inch cutting diameter.

Fixed blades do shoot well provided you get lucky enough or spend enough time tuning them, I used to shoot thunderheads and I would still get fliers, ticked me off enough to switch over to expandables and I don't think I will ever go back.

Hey Gog. I may try one or two expandables, but my muzzys fly great in fact If I don't shoot a four spot I shave off my fletching almost every time.Coulden't hurt to expirement a little . thanks for your the input.[;)]

I hunt in Texas quite a bit and I have yet been on a ranch that will let you use a expandable broadhead. One owner went as far as to inform us if he saw an expandable broadhead on anyone's arrow while hunting on his ranch he would personaly escort them to the highway.
I have used them and me personaly I can't stand them. I use an old fashon 2 blade fixed broadhead. I have taken many different animals with the 100 grain SteelForce broadhead. I have taken 2 black bears with these broadheads, one at 25 yards and one at 15 yards, I had complete shoot through on each bear, the first one weighed 300 pounds. I am convinced that a 2 blade fixed broadhead will penatrate much better than a expandable head. This is my openion, but as everyone knows everyone has an openion.

boy you gus are making my decision pretty easy. expandables don't seem to br be the broadhead of choice.

If you guys are having problems with fliers from shooting fixed broadheads, try bigger fletching. The fliers usually mean the broadhead is controlling the flight more than the fletchings are. Get bigger fletchings and that shouldn't happen.
