Question about bow string

buckeyboybuckeyboy Member Posts: 5,833
Gogolen, I think you may be the person I need to ask about this, but if anyone else knows feel free to jump in. I believe my Mathews orignally had a Zebra twist string on it. I had the string changed this year and it just dosent seem to be the same its shooting well but seems to frey up a lot easier than the origional even if I wax it. is it possible thatthere are knock off strings that look somewhat like zebra twist and are not as the same quality also does any one where I can purchace a real good quality string for my sq2. any help is appriciated.

There are a couple of knock off Zebra Twist strings out there most notably the tiger string. None of the knock offs are of the same quality as the Zebra string, but on the other hand none of the knock offs have the price tag of the Zebra string either I believe it was around $80 the last time I priced them.

The originals have a little more life in them, they don't twist near as much as the knock offs due to counter twisting of the strands. All in all they are a better string, ultimately it is your decision, I will only shoot zebra strings, but when it comes to archery as you know I am very particular. If you just put the string on this year I would leave it if it shooting well. Your string will most definitly make it through the rest of the year, and who knows after that you might want to use that 80 bucks towards a new bow (OUTBACK!!!!!!). I have micro adjustments on my rest to dial my target bow back to zero as the string stretches, this is why I use a zebra string on that bow.
