new stuff for my bow

PythonwillPythonwill Member Posts: 6 ✭✭
Ok, Im thinking about getting a new arrow rest for my bow, has anyone ever used a "whisker biscut" They look like they would make things alot quicker and easier to hold an arrow.
Then for sights im thinking about some of the new ones with the fiber optics in them. I tried the old ones and they sucked but the new ones are built alot differently.this is what I like the best. hope link works

Also thinking about getting rid of the peep sight on the bow string and getting a fixed hind sight. Ive never used one before but I sure do hate the peep sight that I have been using for all these years. last year the rubber strap broke and about put my eye out

I use a whisker biscut and love it! Have fiber optics and love them too. I am actually switching back to the peep with the rubber strap. I haven't got it put in yet but the one i have now does not have the strap and it does not always roll right and I have to let it down physically roll the string then pull again to get it to line up. Just my .02

Why do they make it taste so good and put it in them little bitty cans- Dad

What kind of a bow do you have? I know I would never ever ever throw a $30 dollar rest on a $700 bow, in case you couldn't tell I do not like whisker biscuits. I have a preference for the drop away rests, they are much more accurate, and consistant. As for the trophy ridge sights I don't care for them either but that is just personal preference, the thing I don't like about them is the pins coming out of the bottom (you can't see what is below your target). this is the sight I use http://www.extremearchery.com/sights2.html mine is the model 500 in camo. The nice thing about this sight is you can put a light in it if you want as well as scope lenses.

I have the sniper 400 and it seems to be just fine. The only thing I like better is my Eotech Holographic sight. If you have the money I HIGHLY recommend the Eotech sight. I got mine used but they run about 350-400 new from what I understand, but I am new into this bowhunting thing and I see a BIG difference in my accuracy with it. I also have no peep or kisser on that bow.

hey gagirl seriously go get a peep and a kisser button on your bow you will like that sniper a whole lot better which pins do you have on your the big ones or the little ones? Have you tried any of the scope lenses for it? I absolutely love mine I am using the 3x and I don't think I will ever go back. Also do you have a light in yours they make 2 of them for that sight the blue flame and the purple haze I like the blue flame because it is brighter if you find it too bright you can always dim it down with a little nail polish. The reason I went with the 500 is so I could get a longer sight plane and to adjust it in and out to be able to center it in my peep, being a round housing it works really well. The peep I am using has different inserts to adjust the diameter of the peep, although you can get the same effect with a plastic peep and a drill bit.

There is no need for a peep or a kisser if you have an Eotech. Check them out and you will understand why. I do not have a light for my sniper and really dont know that I will have any use for it. My Eotech is going on my new bow (any day now) and the other bows will just be for playing around with or for letting the kids practice with. So I am not going to sink any money into anything more for them.

Nope, it's kinda like or is a dot scope for archery. I have one on my AR-15. As of Nov 2004 Eotech is not making anymore archery sites, they are concentrating on the military style sites. Just read that at Eotechs website.

Well I seem to shoot ALOT tighter when I use it. It just seems more natural to use it for me. You shoot tatical courses huh? I would have to guess you are a cop or military then.

Nope just love to shoot my guns, or bow anytime I get a chance. My brother is a Prison guard in Southern Illinois and a cousin is a sherriff, so I go to alot of shoots with them.

Well the whisker biscut was just something I had looked at, I really know nothing about them, thats why I asked[;)] I am shooting a Oneida Aero-Force X80 Ive had it for about 9 yrs now and just figured it was time for a tune-up. Here are a couple pics of the sights and rest I have, you will see why Im ready to replace them[:D]

gogolen, I like the 500 camo, that looks like it would fit on my dovetail mount I already have on my bow. do you think they would work ok with the hindsite setup I mentioned, like I said last year I lamost got my eye snapped with the rubber that hold the peep sight inline, and im not looking forward to that happening again soon.[B)]

Wow, I haven't seen an overdraw in years. If you can't afford to upgrade to a newer bow then I would suggest a bisquit and a newer sight, but I wouldn't throw a bunch of money into an older bow. Bows have changed so much in the past few years that yours has become obsolete. I'm not putting down your bow, hey yer a fellow archer, it's just bow technology has changed so much.

well in "your" opinion its obsolete, thats fine, but IMO its still in damn good shape and doesnt need to be replaced. I think it will do fine with minor upgrades. I have an overdraw so I dont have to shoot arrows 34" long. I have a very long draw length. With the setup I have now I can shoot 28.5" arrows and "I" think thats much better.

We all love shooting lets not be like that. However 9 years is 9 years of new technology and innovation after inovation. [:D]
Kinda like keeping a computer for 9 yrs. IMO.
