What were the first arrowheads made out of[?]

    They were made out of flint between 30,000 and 19,000 years ago using the Levallois and disc core techniques. Then the points were hafted to a wooden or bone pole or handle. The bow and arrow was first invented around the time of the Aterian tradition in the Middle Atlas region of the Northern Sahara Desert.

    Thats not the information I had but your answer could actually be right . I will have to check on it .

    Dont know about the wood part. I know that they were made from different substances in different areas. Naturally in Northern America it would be different then Southern America. I did find out when I was researching bowhunting when I decided to get into it that the oldest ones found are from Africa.

    But with all areas of 'science' we never know... one will say one thing another area will say something else. It all depends on who needs the funding more at the time.

    You are corrct the place I found my answer did say South America. And said that it was a rare find. Did say flint was more common. Guess I should have read a little farther.[:I]
