I just got word from a friend of mine. well its been a bad year of deer hunting around my house. alot of people that usally see deer arnt. well I found out why my good friends the amish who live up the road declared open war on the deer population and were given a nuisance permit which means you can kill as many does as you can. well they racked up 10 of um. What i cant figure out is how they got the nuisance permit the deer are not a problem in the area. im very ticked off about this and phone calls will have to be made on the trash

My old man's backhand used to land,
Hard on the side of my head.
I just learned to stay out of his way.
There's been streetfights, blue lights,
Long nights with the world sittin' on my chest:
It just showed me how much I could take.
Hard times, bad luck.
Sometimes, life sucks.
That's all right, I'm ok.
It ain't nothin' but another day.

Around here the state issues permits like that depending on the amount of land you have, don't believe the base anything on the amount that is farmed. If their farmers then I can understand them wanting to harvest as many deer as they can, but if their not farmers then I don't know. Either way you should join their group. [;)]

Here in the south it is based only on how much land is actually farmed. I understand the need to protect the crops. Maybe a solution would be to go to them and ask to "help" them with their problem.

In ND there is only one "free" license issued to each farm/ranch owner each year and they must hunt on their own land. Game and Fish here just wait until the numbers build up and a disease takes them or a few more car bumpers.

This year they have issued additional whitetail doe permits, but again in their wisdome they are charging for them which means they are raising money for their coffers.[:(!]
