INSTICT -VRS- TRUTH

watrulookinatwatrulookinat Member Posts: 4,693
Just getting into archery this year to hunt. I hunt general gun, but wanted to try with a compound bow. I have been looking at bow's for a couple of months now. My cousin bought the instinct and I fell in love with it. I guess it was just instinct! no pun intended. But I was checking out the truth model and I am wondering if it's worth the extra money for the sealed cam bearings and it's faster fps. Any advise or experience on this subject would be appreciated.

well being new to archey I would first make sure your going to have the patitence It's a little different than gun hunting. with that said I would go to a bow shop shoot as many bows as they will let you depending on what you have for a budget get the bow your most comfortable with reguardless of brand or popularity..[;)] welcome to the addiction..[;)]

I would do like buckey suggests. Go to a shop and shoot different bows. Get measured up too, you wanna make sure your shooting the right draw length. Then go with what feels the best and most comfortable.

And again like buckey said, welcome to the addiction! [;)]

Went after work and played with some compound bows. The shop I went to had alot of animals mounted hanging on the walls. SO IT GAVE ME AN IDEA!!! I rented a couple of bows and I snuck them in my truck and went into lion country safari. I tried out a couple differant bows and took out a rhino with one shot, WITH THE BOWTECH! some tourists got some great picture's of the shot. After I was arrested, I had time to reflect and I decided on a bow. The Black Ice by bowtech. Just kidding about the zoo!

Add another BowTech shooter! I went to Lion Country Safari about 10 years ago with the wife and son. It was better the going to Disney as far as I was concerned. Less people. And you don't see 2 ostriches doing it at Disney.[;)]

Hey thanks for your reply's. I really like the bowtech black ice or liberty. But I have decided to buy a used bow first, to make sure I'm going to like shooting a bow insted of making a hasty decision and spending the money on a new bowtech. it's alot of money to spend on a bow for the first time. Plus, I want to get more educated on the compound bows and learn how to use it, before I drop that much money on a bow.[8D]

Just bought a used high country 2001 model. It was just rebuilt, new limbs and string, cam bushings ect. fps is from 310-325 with carbon arrows. And it's 32" axle to axle. The pull adjust's from 26-30. And the draw is set at 62 pounds and can be adjusted up to 70. I can't wait to get it shipped to me. I need to get an arrow rest and sight for it. Once I get it set up I'll try to post a pic of it.
