Using a restraint system with climbing sticks

For the life of my i cannot figure out how one would use a saftey harness while climbing the sticks. I was thinking about getting a chain on stand and some sticks ( i usually use ladder stands) for a particularly dense area with a lot of buck activity, but I am worried about the climb up and how i would use the harness.

I have seen some use a line from the top to the bottom with the sliding prussic knot that Summit uses. The trick is the first time up you have no line to use.

The other way is that some harnesses come with linemans belts. They attach at the waist and the belt loops around the tree. As you climb up, you slide the belt up the tree. It doesn't attach you to the tree per-se, but it will keep you from falling backward.
