A swing.... and a miss!

First the swing. As I was climbing my stick ladder this morning my foot slipped off of the rung and I took a little swing. I use a 1/2 diameter nylon climbing rope, attached to the tree at the top and the bottom rung of the ladder, and a "rope-grab" ("gift" from my last job). Therefore I only fell about a foot and got a nut-smash special. Swung back and forth for a second as the stars cleared and then continued up the ladder.
Sat in the stand until 10:30 and didn't see anything. Climbed down and started toward the truck. I walk down a logging trail to the place where I park my truck. As I came around the bend, I spotted a doe about to step out into the trail about 35 yards down. I dropped to one knee, pulled an arrow out of the quiver and nocked it. As she stepped out into the trail I drew. She must have seen me because she turned right toward me and we commenced a staring match. After a minute or two, she decided something wasn't right and turned to leave with that "I don't know what the heck that is, but I am not going to stand here anymore" body language. She was about to step into the woods, offering me a pretty good quartering away shot, and I stopped her with a mouth grunt. As soon as she stopped I let it fly. I must have had a muscle spasm or something[;)] because the arrow sailed right over her back. She took off and I winced as I saw my arrow embedded in a pine tree. It had buried itself about 3-1/2" into the tree. I will say one thing for Gold Tip arrows. They are tough. Didn't damage the arrow at all, but the broadhead is lost.[:(]
Good thing I bought a package of Slick Tricks when I went to Cabelas last month.[:D]
