The story I read was that it is growing out of the face. Its not from another deer.Just the story I read on another site.

Actually after looking at it again it looks like its crab clawed on the end so I couldn't have been attached to another deer, could it?

That woukld explain why theres still fresh blood on it dried up. every year it falls off and prolly grows back.
