Just thought you guys would like to see these. Bang you close to knox?
Knox county giant. a heavy 17-pointer shot on the morning of Nov. 3, 2007 by Yates City taxidermist Dave Emken. Emken said the Knox County buck green-scored 209 6/8 inches gross and 199 2/8 inches net. The deer also field dressed at 255 pounds.
Emken said the buck was following a doe that was not ready to breed. When she happened to walk past his stand, he made a perfect shot from 30 yards.
Emken had both sides of shed antlers from the buck for the past two years. Last year the sheds netted 199 6/8 inches and in 2005 they were 178 inches. But he said the deer's antlers (a wide, 23-inch inside spread main-frame 8-point rack) was cleaner this year with fewer sticker points on the brow tines.
Emken shot the buck on a farm he had purchased in the past year. "The main reason I bought the ground is because I knew he was there," Emken said.
Here's the 243" shotgun kill, also from Knox county.
