pistol set trigger question

anderskandersk Member Posts: 3,627 ✭✭
I have an older CVA Kentucky Pistol that was having ignition problems ... so I swapped out the old lock for a new L & R replacement flint lock. Man, now I get the "shower of sparks" that the advertise, and ignition is 100%. But the trigger pull is really bad. It's gotta be 10 pounds! The sear does have the stuff for a set trigger, but my pistol does not had a set trigger. How hard is it to add a set trigger?

If your tumbler has a fly, you should be able to get a trigger assy from Track Of the Wolf. If it does not have a fly, you need to thin the sear spring to reduce the trigger pull.

My friend, who put in the new lock, later on found time to work on the trigger. In fact he put in a new trigger, too. now it works wonderfully well!
