Muzzle loader 2X

Da-TankDa-Tank Member Posts: 3,718 ✭✭
Does anybody have any loads worked up on this gun?
I've started with 70 gr. ffg and the same amount #9 shot in volume. Seems to work real good.
What would be the load on #5 shot?
Also what is the best turkey load?

What gun? a 70 grain load of ffg in a 12 ga is a little light for wing shooting.

Try different loads and pattern on a pattern board.
In my Bess, which is a flint 12 gauge, I used 120 grains 2FF and 1 1/2 or 1 3/4oz shot for turkeys don't remember which one.
Doubt you'd want to shoot that heavy a load in a side by side tho.
A rule of thumb we used was if it would penetrate a soup can at a given distance, it was good enough to put a long beard down.
    Good luck.
