Percussion caps turning in capper device

So I got my package in and I was trying to load the capper with percussion caps. They seem to want to turn over and sideways inside the capper? Unless I am EXTREMELY careful I can't get them to line up and then trying to use the capper to put one on the revolver doesn't seem to easy either. Truth is it was a lot easier just using my fingers to cap the nipple.

Any ideas?

Cap the cylinder with it out of the revolver.

I use the T/C teardrop shaped capper on my Ruger Old Armys. It fits tight in the cylinder but works very well and caps never fall over. Not sure if they are still made or not but see them every once in a while.

Thanks I think and extra cylinder and a Press to load out of the revolver may be in order.

Hell I probably need another one already heaven forbid I go around half cocked and unarmed!

I use a Ted Case capper for muzzleloaders, don't know if that will work for revolver caps.

If you have a capper with a lid made by CASH, put some masking tape in the bottom of the case. That will take up some room and prevent the caps from turning over. If you use a inline capper, you are out of luck.

Just measured several different brands of caps. Not for diameter, which we all know varies, but for length. All were #11's.

Alcan - .075
Fiocchi - .0625
CVA - .038
Replica Arms - .056
Dixie - .052

Obviously the last three are "house brands" and I don't know who made them. But my point is that there is a huge difference in length. You might just have to hunt around for a brand that is long enough to not tip sideways in that capper.

Never saw any #11 caps come close to being that length. Must be somelong nipples on those guns.
