    I'd simply list it as a .45 caliber Winchester In-line muzzleloading rifle and list the price you paid as the value. If you're filling out a form, in the space for the gun's serial number, write "NSN" (for "no serial number"). If the insurance company requires any further information, you KNOW they'll call. At that point (if it ever comes) you can explain the situation. Quite a few guns prior to 1968 were not serial numbered. It was not a legal requirement until the '68 GCA was passed, and it is still not required for most muzzleloading firearms.
