Black Powder Loads ?

Does anyone have load data or pet loads for a 54 cal Burnside carbine
using 425 grain Minie Balls ?? I have all the components, but no load data. Thanks for any help.

    Dixie Gun Works' catalog lists all kinds of neat info in the back, including a load for the .54 Burnside.
    It's a bullet sized to .558, and 60 grains of FFFG powder...Elsewhere in the catalog, they offer a mold for making the original Burnside bullets listed at 360 grains weight, so my guess is the 60 grain FFFg load is intended for this bullet. Since the Burnside is a breechloader, there is no need for a hollow-based Minie-type projectile.
    Probably best to order the mold for the correct slug before handloading for the carbine.

    Hollow base bullets didn't shoot so well out of my Sharps carbine.
