Colt SAA convert-a-cal.

mtomto Member Posts: 6 ✭✭
Hello,

I own an Uberti replica colt 1873 Peacemaker in .44 cal. cap-and-ball. As this firearm was originally designed to fire black powder cartridges, couldn't I just buy, from Uberti, a cylinder in the appropriate cartridge size (.45 long colt) and a hammer for cartridges, swap-out parts and go?
(I will use black powder ammo only!)

Am I living in a dream world? This option would be ideal for Cowboy Action Shooting,
I could compete in several different classes with the same gun/balance.

Thanks,
Michael Obermueller

I know that they make cartridge conversion cylinders for the 1858 and 1860 replica revolvers, but I haven't seen one for the 1873. But, if you can find one, I don't see any problems with what you are suggesting.
