Q. Can I use Pyrodex Pellets in my side lock rifle?
A. Pyrodex Pellets are specifically designed for use with in-line rifles. The ignition pad is placed on the end to facilitate proper ignition. A side lock would not place the flash from the percussion cap in the correct position on the pellet to insure good ignition.

Oh good, it did. Scroll down almost to the bottom & there are loads for a .50 T/C Hawken.
80-110 grains should do you well. I'd start low and work up. The 'nominal' load for a 50 cal would be about 100 for hunting, though for just punching holes I use about 60-70 of FFG or equivalent.
