Brand new TC Pro Hunter Thumbhole camo stock the hole 9 yards.
Brand new Omega Muzzleloader Scope
100 Grain Triple 7
295 Powerbuilt Bullet tried several diffrent bullets weights and still got same result.
This is my first Muzzle loading experience and I am looking for any help I can get. I have several friends that shoot this gun and love it but They are all out of town and I am running out of town before deer season. I have several rifles and just really want to shhot the Muzzle loader this year.
Gun was set up and bore sighted (Laser) told it would be on the paper at 100 Yards WRONG didn't really believe it but tried it anyway. Missed target shot low. Change to 50 yards and move adjustment shot low still ended up adjust scope as much as possible and still hit 6" low at 50 yards. I am at the max of my adjustments Took gun to shop and was told that my mounts were bad got new mounts and bore sighted again I went to the range and got the same results. I shot the gun holding purposely 2 circles down and got within an inch.
Anyone got any suggestions Thanks!!!

Thanks
Take the breech plug out of the rifle and prop it up and look thru the barrel at the target and center it in the bore, now look thru the scope and make adjustments to center the crosshairs on the target, this should get you on the paper.
What kind of mounts are you using? I would want TC mounts for this set up.My 2nd choice would be Leuapold (probably not spelled right).
I have now tried about ever load possible with hopes that there will be a difference. I have fiqure that I have spent close to $200 trying to get this to shoot not counting the time.
Almost traded it today but the gun shop won't deal. Wonder Why!!
Thanks again!!!
Are you using pellets or loose powder. If using loose, drop down to 90 grains of powder.
The other thing that you can do is change to the 250 grain Shockwave bullets that Coltsmoke suggested. Or, try loading with the Hornady 240 grain .44 Cal XTPs in the Hornady Green sabots.
Also, are you using low rings or medium or high? Always use the shortest rings that will allow the scope to be mounted.
Is your hinge pin loose or tight? If it is loose, try to get another, or order an 1X oversized pin from Mike Bellem or get one of the screw together type from Cabelas or E.Arthur Brown.
I have a hard time believing that you got a bad barrel. My thought is that it is a bad bullet/powder combo.
The last thing that I will ask is are you sure that you are not "pulling" the shot. This is quite common when dealing with thumbhole stocks. They allow you to "grip" better and if you squeeze too hard in anticipation of the recoil, the design of the thumbhole stock will cause you to pull up on the stock, therefore lowering the front of the barrel and shooting low.
Not much of a shooter but a fair fisherman I can help with these
questions!!!!!!!!
Ed
Are they being used on the new replacement rifle???
thanks
I am glad I found this piece because I think I am in the same boat. I have a brand new TC Pro Hunter camo stock (No Thumbhole) top of the line.
Brand new Omega Muzzleloader Scope after switching from a Leupold Vari-X II which I thought was the problem.
I've tried the recomended 150 Grain (3 pellets) and the 100 Grain (2 pellets) Triple 7
I shoot the TC 250grn Shock Wave bullet. I've tried several diffrent bullets weights and still cannot hit any consistant groups. Infact, at times I am off the paper at 100 yards. I too have spent at least $200 dollars trying to get this thing to shoot straight. It will not.
What did Bass Pro Shop say was wrong with the gun they took back? It sounds like I have the same problem.
Here is the kicker, I have a 10 year old $250 Knight T-bolt muzzleloader that will out shoot this high dollar Pro Hunter hands down.
Is your new gun still shooting well?
Wednesday night this week my gun shop replaced my Pro Hunter as well. But not until I wrote a red hot smokin' email/fax to T/C Arms, Smith-Wesson(owns T/C), and my gun shop. In fact after making big noise, they threw in a .243 barrel to compensate me for the $500 plus I wasted in dealing with my wild shooting Pro Hunter. Wednesady night at the gun shop, after they gave me the new rifle and .243 barrel, the District Sales Manager from Smith and Wesson who happened to be at my gun shop was arrogant enough to try to convince me I was consistantly shooting 12 inches off the paper because of shooter error! Said I was pulling the shot! So the next day I sighted in my new Pro Hunter (in 5 shots), killed a deer with it that afternoon, and wrote another red hot smokin' email/fax letting Smith and Wesson know thier Sales Manager did not exactly help create a customer service success story here. You don't buy a $1200 rig only to find out it shoots like a wet noodle, spend $500 trying to get it right, and then have some Sales Manager tell you it's your fault. He's dealing with a customer complaint by getting confrontational and embarrassing the customer. What was this guy thinking?
I will say Thompson Center and my gun shop worked hard to help, but the actions of Smith and Wesson over shadowed any goodwill they may have created.
Call me during work hours at 804 282-7641 ask for Jim and we can discuss further. I cannot believe we are alone here. The rifles we had were indentically inconsistant.
Sent Thompson a e-mail last Friday and still have not got any response from them. Now that is good customer service.
As an owner of over 70 T/C guns, and over 150 in the past 30 years, I find that hard to believe. There service and support has always been top notch. Not that I don't believe your situation, anything can happen. Try one of these numbers, Direct customer service (603)-330-5659 or 603-332-2333 You should get some attention that way. Like I said I was always impressed with there service, so much so that I bought stock in the company. Keep us posted.
Would I buy or recomend a T/C to anyone
Do I really need to answer that.
I hope that someone that works at Thompson reads this and maybe it will make a diffrence for someone else. I know it sounds like I was asking for the world. No Not Really.
I would like to ask T/C this question. If you purchased from a supplier a part or product that had something wrong with it and it cost your company time and money to correct the issue what would you do?
