My grandfather passed me down a 250-3000 savage Model 1899 the serial number i believe (the number in front of the lever action on the bootom of the rifle?) is 180700. Looked it up in auctions here and found one almost identical but in very poor condition compaired to mine going for $1300.00? Would like to find the value of mine anyone out there an expert in these? email me at bill_johnson1985@hotmail.com or respond here

The .250-3000 cartridge was introduced far too late to be chambered in a Savage 1899, so yours is a Savage model 99. They are not that rare in fact. In 95%+ condition it might be worth $750 retail. That is all I paid for mine in about 98% condition several years ago. People can ask whatever they like. Getting a buyer is a different proposition.
