Value of black powder gun
Virginia
Member Posts: 4 ✭✭
My husband died recently and I must figure the value of his antique gun. He had a 40 caliber black powder original gun. It was made by Wyatt Atckison and his name is under the butt plate. Please help me determine the value of this gun? Thank you, Virginia

First of all, please accept my condolences for the loss of your husband.
Gunmakers did not mark their guns beneath the buttplate. They are generally marked on the top of the barrel behind the rear sight. The name underneath the buttplate is most likely that of a previous owner. That being said, we still need a complete and detailed description of your gun (half stock, full stock, percussion or flintlock, any and all markings on the barrel and lock, etc.). Pictures would be a major help and this thread will show you how to post them:
