Non Sabot Rounds in a 10ml
Matchshot

I have been looking for loads for the Hornady Great Plains Muzzleloading Bullets 50 Caliber 385 Grain Lead Hollow Point to shoot with my new ml. Also, can I shoot a patched round ball?
I am new to Muzzle Loading and am full of dumb questions.

You have to use a sabot.
And not just any sabot, the Savage is a finicky beast.
Verboten!

Got it. I see the MMP black sabot is necessary for smokeless. Can any of the Hornady sabots be used as well? I didn't see anything in the instruction manual.
By the way, I love this rifle! Got it in SS and Laminate, weighs a ton, but it is a quality firearm. Got to get out and shoot it.
Some guys get good results with the Hornady sabots, and some don't.
I am shooting the 250 SST with supplied sabot and get 1.5 MOA
With the 250 XTP, of course you have to order sabots from MMP.
So it is not a No-No as stated
You need to read the postings on Doug's savage 10 Ml board for all the info
Matchshot was not inquiring about this type of rifle.
He is a rookie who has just gotten his .50 Savage.
He is asking for basic tech tips for the factory Savage.
For his rifle non saboted slugs are a no-no.
