Savage Primer Seating Problem

I have been shooting Winchester Primers in my Savage successfully. The only problem is they will not seat unless I hold the barrel downward to keep the primer straight when I close the bolt. Is this typical? The primers seem loose in the ring on the bolt face.

This is an unusual problem. I shoot Winchester primers in my Savage and I have not had this happen, and I have never heard of it.
You might try a different primer, they do vary in thickness. Try CCI. Leave the Remington alone, Savage does not like 'em.

Wow, these guys really know what they are talking about. Evidently, this is not an uncommon problem and there is a relatively easy fix. Here is the post and replies if any others run across this problem...
