Turkey Shoot

Sky SoldierSky Soldier Member Posts: 460
I'm gonna host a little clay/turkey shoot and am looking for some "fun" competitions for the shooters, their wives and their kids.
Anybody have any games to suggest?
Thanks in advance for your help.

Our club Black Powder Shoot in November is going to be combined with a Turkey shoot ... so I'm looking for the same ideas that you have asked for!

We used to have an axe shoot, split the ball on an axe and break a clay pigeon on both sides of the ax. Just make sure everybody loads a ball, and not buckshot. We also used to start with a loaded rifle, shot, load, shot, load, shot, in one minute, a timed event shooting for score at fifty yards. It was always a fun event. Always had hawk and knife throws, flint and steel fire building. Campfire cooking dutchoven style is a good family event, always end up with good eats.
    Hope this helps.

We use to have some great shoots. Cut a playing card on edge, Cut a soda straw, shoot a cork out of a bottle, hang charcoal brickets from fishing line. Split a ball on a ax head with paper plates you can see the ball halfs if you split the ball. Night time have a jack pot shoot with a candle and a hollow log, have plenty of extra candles avaliable. in the winter we would have meat shoots, Hang with fishing line bacon at 25 yards, smoked sasuages at 50 yards and hams at 75 yards,1buck a shot cut the line the meat is yours. Hang a 55 gallon drum between to trees put a saddle on it load and shoot from the saddle. we shot paper and timed it. throw in fire starting and hawk throwing.
