What is the best way to remove a ball from a Lyman 54 caliber muzzleloader.
Has anyone tried this with a small homesize air compressor?
If so what happened?

They make a CO2 ball ejecting device, so your air compressor may work.
I have a ball puller, it goes on the end of the cleaning rod, and screws into the lead ball.
Also, assuming the ball is rammed all the way down the barrel, you can pull the nipple, and put as much powder as you can fit into the drum.
Put the nipple back in and fire it, you may blow it out.
You will certainly blow it up the barrel a bit, then, pull the nipple again, and put a bunch of powder in there, replace the nipple.
Be sure to ram the ball home, no air space.
Fire it out.
2. pull the nipple and sprinkle a few grains of black powder or crushed up propellant into the nipple hole
3.replace the nipple and reseat the bullet
4 fire the gun[;)]
