Any one know if 1873 38/40 would qualify as a primitive weapon for deer season?

I don't believe any firearm using a metalic cartridge would qualify as a "primitive weapon".

He's right, it would have to be a muzzleloader to be considered "primitive."

That gun is probably illegal for deer hunting anyway, not enough punch.
In many states muzzleloading pistols are not legal for deer hunting.

Allen, I assumed he is talking about a Winchester Model 1873 lever action rifle/carbine rather than Colt's Model 1873 revolver.
