I have a 54 caliber muzzle-loader and all my hunting buddies are telling me to start using the pellets instead of powder

is there any pellets made for 54 instead of 50 caliber[?]

will the pellets made for the 50 calibers shoot true in my 54[?]

I've never saw any pellets for .54 caliber.

Mostly .50 & few .45's

just because its easier doesn't mean better. The only misfires I ever had were with the imitations I use loose black powder because IT WORKS, yes its messy but that is muzzleloading........... and I know when I pull the trigger it WILL go off.

Loose powder is just fine. I have never used pellets and don't see any need for it.

Is your 54 a in-line or a side lock and what make and model?
and what are you hunting, like deer, bears, elk or ???
Can you use sabots in your State?

Reason i ask is I have hunting and target recipes for 54 calibers, but the recipe is different for side locks vs in-lines!

Also most 54's don't like 2 60 gr pellets (120gr) for consistent accuracy and one 60gr may not be quite enough velocity, therefore I need more info for my 54 cal recipe's.

Safety notice! Do not use 50 cal pellets in a 54cal gun!

You will get better accuracy with loose BLACK POWDER than with pellets . You can work up a load better with loose powder. Best to go with real black powder it is easier to clean ,and easier to load second or third shots. Besides I do not think they make pellets for 54 cal. This is my story and I'm sticking to it...... john

I prefer to fine tune my load. As stated 60 is too light for hunting and 120 will hurt my sholder too much. I like 90 grains but loose powder lets me make minor or major adjustments. I use pre loaded speed loaders in the field to reload quickly.
