Nothing to write home about. Ended up being a 7 pointer. Took out his heart at 143 yards. Weighted in at 162. Oakie

i went out one morning to track a deer that my BIL had shot and lost. I found the deer in about twenty minutes. I broke the two front legs when I went to put it on the cart....it had been -20 the night before and the damn thing was frozen solid and frozen to the ground. I had to get a stick and a log to pry it off the ground. [:D]
Placement looks good on the second pic.
How far did he run?
Congrats.

623 yards by my range finder. We marked it off. He crawled into a laural bush and died.
Is the meat still good? Was it cold enough?

Sometimes deer amaze me with how far they can go with a devastatingly fatal shot.
Congrats.

I've been lucky with all I've shot. None but one ran out of sight and that one piled up with a plum thicket between us. Course, there is a difference between NJ and KS.[;)]

Yep! ... and sometimes 2x3. [:p]
No pass through shot?
No pass through. Never found the bullet either. It must have went in, hit the heart, took out a lung and hit a rib and went down into his body. It must have ended up in his stomach cavity. Even my one friend said that he has never seen a deer go that far, with that much damage. That deer should not have gone more then 50 yards with that much damage. Those animals always seem to amaze us. Grant you, the adrenaline that goes through them has to be unreal. Oakie
