I've been considering buying one of these noise makers but, know verturally nothing about them. New, older models, heavy weight wise, black powder, 10 ga. shells bah-bah-bah. Any input would certainly be appreciated. Thanks

A catalog from this company is 9 bucks. It will keep you reading for many hours and is loaded with photos and information. South Bend Replicas has the finest repro muzzle loading guns of all sizes from very small to full size. Lots of safety info and an absolute wealth of information, much of which is unavailable elsewhere. I highly recommended this source and am nearly a 50 year cannon collector and shooter.
Local machinist turned the barrel from my drawings. He did about half of the metal and I did the other half. That is why I bought my metal lathe. I built all of the wood carriage (including the wheels), because that is what I do.
Those 10 gauge blanks are LOUD !!!
The Winchester 10 gauge signal cannon cannot be best for quality and sheer volume in a small package.

I have one of these too. Last I looked they are still available new, or you can find a vintage one. They're fun. Tell folks you have a working black powder cannon and they get excited. Then they see how small it is and laugh. THEN you light one off and everyone loves how much noise and smoke it makes and wants to shoot it. Shoots 10 gauge black powder blank shotgun shells. No messing with a ram rod or bulk powder. So easy a kid could do it, but it's not a toy. Love mine. YMMV.
THAT is fantastic!

Thanks. I like it. I fire it at the final note of the National Anthem at the home football games. I still haven't figured out how to do the basketball games with them being played inside the building. [:D]
I am thinking about putting some #7.5 shot in it and cut grass in the swamp. At the last party a woman asked if we needed a permit for that. Silly out of staters.
