Judging direction

The judging distance thread got me thinking. When I was very young, my dad told me that he had a good sense of direction. I did not inherit that sense.
Do any of you guys have a keen sense of direction?
Without the sun, moon, or landmarks, can you tell "north" with a degree of accuracy?

but can normally judge ok
my dad never learned to read or write , but had a memory and common sense that i still try to understand , I am guessing land marks he knew that always got him where he wanted to go .
I grew up with maps and now all the internet and devises to tell you with in a few feet how to get there I have become lazy [:I]
I do know a fellow who has an uncanny ability to drive around a new town a few times, not even going to every part, and to have it almost entirely in his memory and is able to efficiently navigate his way around the entire place almost instantly.
I am the complete opposite, and I am jealous of his skill.
Blind fold him at one end of a football field and face him
in the direction of the opposite goal post. Let him walk
using his keen sense of direction to those goalposts and watch
where he ends up.Don't let him get injured.
Never been lost
I've never been lost either.
Been mightly confused for a month or two but never lost. [:D]
I do pretty good most of the time but there a few places I've visited that my internal compass is off 90 degrees
Since I've been taking Viagra along with an iron supplement I always know which way north is.
[:D]
For some reasom everyhing is bass ackwards no matter which way I go.
I have been there numerous times over the last 25 years while working on
the Spitfire and FW-190 and still get turned around. I am OK on streets I am familiar with but if I turn down a side street, all bets are off!
I seem to be better at determining up or down.[;)]
Find a man who has amazingly keen sense of direction.

I've put at least 10,000 miles on my feet, and there's something about actually walking a straight line through mountains, trees, crossing rivers & fields that teaches how to maintain course.
Right handers tend to wander left, due to the strong side pushing them; lefties tend to walk in circles to the right.
I can find North on other Continents as easily as I do here.
A hundred yard wander would be a piece of cake.

And fiery auto crashes
Some will die in hot pursuit
While sifting through my ashes
Some will fall in love with life
And drink it from a fountain
That is pouring like an avalanche
Coming down the mountain
But have gotten myself out of some bad spots. Marines 29 Palms, I was in the back of the convoy asleep when the Officer in charge went from the road to a dry river bed. Got us lost big time.
But I knew the area and they called me up to see if I could help. Out there with just star light you can see pretty good at night. Looking the area over I saw a light way up on a Hill. Only thing that could be was and Out Post they have. Told them while looking at the map where we were and were we would find the road again.
Now if I'm driving in Oregon or Calif If I can see a freeway sign I'm not lost I know where they go and the direction they take.
