Whats the point of meatless meat???

I fail to understand why someone that supposingly loves animals so much that they won't eat meat. Eats something that looks like meat tastes like meat (kinda) but is plant based...

Agree.
You mean the same people that don't have a problem wearing high dollar leather shoes and purses while ordering Veggie Burgers ?.......🙄

exactly!!!
Ain't gonna say what I'm thinking....🙄
I won't drink a cup of coffee (yuch), but I will eat coffee flavored ice cream or coffee flavored candies; neither of which- so far as I know, contain any actual coffee.
not the same...
I just tell them they'll die earlier than me from all the herbicide intake they're getting and then I get a laugh after it soaks in as to what I said 😳. As smart as they think they are they've never considered that scenario 🙄

If that old quote; "You Are What You Eat" is true, I prefer to remain an ANIMAL!
Beef might have plenty of herbicide in it to.
Use to sell a produt to kill weeds in pastures. Put in fields where cattle were, they would eat the grass and go "poop" in another field, weeds= DRT.
Had a neighbor that used the stuff to kill a big poplar tree. Grubbed the stump and drug it across his tobacco field. Tobacco would never again grow anywhere that stump touched the ground.
Ain't killed me yet, nothing like a big ole slab of prime rib, medium rare of course.
If you put a meatless patty on a gluten-free bun along with a slice of imitation cheese, is it foodless food?
I've been tempted to try it simply because I can no longer eat mammal meat thanks to Alpha Gal (a tick allergy). For now though I will stick with turkey, chicken, and seafood.
I have a part time neighbor up here in the mountains. He usually lives in Miami where he owns a Mexican restaurant.
Chuck was up here in September, and he told me that he has quit eating meat. He told me that he has eaten a thousand steaks in his life, but eating meat contributes to climate change. [I am not making this up.]
Chuck said that he does not want to destroy the earth, that he wants to hand a vibrant and healthy earth over to his 23 year old son, so he won't eat any more meat.
And I asked him if he serves veggie burritos and tacos at his restaurant.
He said "No we still serve meat at the restaurant."
I had a general foreman that was up here in Iowa, oh, back in '13 and '14. He had the same thing. Bit by a tick in Florida, where he was from.
I had a good weekend goose hunting. Brought him 2 thick Canada goose breasts. Told him, grill them like a good steak.
Also, my wife boiled a carcass down, and made a "beef" stew from the stock, with cubed up goose meat, carrots, etc.
He got the recipes, and said he was going to take up goose hunting, that he could've sworn he was eating beef.
And, my dumb blank sister in-law refuses to buy leather anything, because beef is so mistreated.
But, I mentioned a couple of times, while she was wolfing down hamburgers and other beef products, that leather is a by-product of meat. They don't kill cows for the leather. Duh!
SWMBO doesn't like breakfast sausage, but she will eat one of the fake ones from MorningStar Farms. I have to admit that it is hard to tell one from the real thing but given my druthers, I'd get real sausage.
Just like the phoney meat...the people eating it are phoney.
I want nothing to do with either.
Because they can still choose. I for example choose to never have a donut with bacon.🤢
Whats the point of meatless meat???
So a person can be hedonistic and trendy at the same time.
Our maker put us here on Earth to enjoy life and be happy....I"ve always did my best to make that happen and after it's all over for me here I'm waiting to hear from him my favorite words... ......."well done" son. 😀

We didn't claw our way to the top of the food chain to eat fake meat.
If one has developed a taste for meat and then develops a social conscience that forbids taking part in the consumption of animal products, one now has an option.

Forgive me but I don't understand the problem here. So why are we looking for a solution? If some don't want to eat food produced from animals fine. If some do, fine. To paraphrase Rodney, "Why can't we just all get along?". 😘
It's mental conditioning for when we have to turn to soylent green.
And fiery auto crashes
Some will die in hot pursuit
While sifting through my ashes
Some will fall in love with life
And drink it from a fountain
That is pouring like an avalanche
Coming down the mountain
Loved that movie but perhaps if our vegan friends prevail, it won't come to that. 😋
I remember some years back the vegans loved McDonalds French fries .. then they found out they were cooked in tallow ( lard ) just too funny to make up
not long after mc D's switched to vegetable oil and the fries lost there great flavor .. I think they were also sued over calling them vegan friendly or some BS over it
Not directed at you solely, Don, but vegans are hypocritical. If they had a true "social conscience" they wouldn't eat anything that had ever been alive. Plants are living things that you kill to eat - no difference whatever from animals.
Exactly!!!
I don't like meat, so I want mine to look, taste, smell just like the meat I don't like.
Anyone thinking of going vegan should read this first.

If you don't eat your meat, you can't have any pudding! :)
We do meatless burgers a few times a month. If for no other reason than to switch things up a bit. They come out great on the grill (big green egg).
I do enjoy meatless meals without having to imitate meat. What I choose to eat will not save our planet no matter what it is.
Just thankful that I have lived a life without ever having to worry about hunger!
Love that group, KenK/84Bravo. I saw them twice in Indy and Roger 2 other times.
There's a reason humans have "canine" teeth........think about it 😁 and I still have mine fully intact.

FCD, you mean like "Baccoli"? The broccoli that's made from bacon.
In many cases you have missed the point.
It is MARKETING, pure and simple marketing. Veggie burgers cost the Burger Chain less to make than meat burgers. Make a few pennies more per veggie burger and your overall Corporate profits soar.
There is no other reason to make veggies taste like beef; or for that matter make turkey taste like beef burgers other than the cost to produce the product.
Q.E.D.
Especially when you charge MORE for the veggie burger.
The main reason for "meatless meat" is more profit for the sellers.
You can't have the pudding if you don't eat your meat.
“ ...Man does not live by bread alone...
A very old book.
In primitive times, humans were hunter/gatherers. But what did that mean?
In those times, the men hunted. They were bigger, stronger, and could roam far from the home area to find game. Women gathered. They were tied to the homestead by their children, but could forage to gather edible plants and later plant gardens.
Today, remnants of that behavior are still prominent. Men leave the home to work, and engage in "hunting-like" activities like sports as well as actual hunting and fishing. Women shop, the modern equivalent of gathering. We have the common phrases "bringing home the bacon" which is the masculine job, and "keep the home fires burning" which is the feminine.
In my limited experience and observation, men tend to be the carnivores and women the vegetarians. It is yet another holdover from the days of Og. We both gravitate to the food source we brought to the cave.
Addendum: Those cave hunting men had to be silent to approach game. Women learned to talk constantly to ward off animals. Explain anything?
