got up and looked out the window east to our lake place......went over today and finished getting a few items and gave the new owners the deed.....we are to old and 180 miles is to far away to enjoy the ride over while dodging the idiots on the roads...sixteen years gone by in a blink ???? odd feeling

I detect a hint of seller's remorse.
We loose a lot of things as we age. Better a lake place than getting harmed or worse on the drive there. Personally I have found that I have became happier the more I reduce the size of my universe. My wife, kids, dogs, bunnies, garden, bird feeders and Momma's flower pots (55 of them, many big!!), what more do I need?? Life is good!! Thank you Lord!!
On the bright side - less maintenance work, less utility cost, less taxes, less insurance cost, less worry and you still get to keep all the good memories. Bob
I feel for you.
I have a piece of "Hunting" property that I dearly love but hunt it less and less. Good hunting on my place here at the house so why make the drive...except for the solitude. And I could use the money for something else-I don't know what.
If you survive this maybe I can as well - come spring.
Looked at a few homes on Lake Marion south of us. Haven't found the right one yet. Waiting to see what direction this country goes.
sounds like no more than you use it you could rent a place for a week or so a year, maybe even change lakes on the rentals and then have new water view.......
Don't love anything that won't love you back.
That is what I am considering..only more renting. No high taxes on waterfront property and the upkeep
You have some good memories from there....that is a good thing !
I had to let go of some property when my father passed away. It can be a difficult thing but for us in the long run it turned into one less thing to worry about...
