I saw that too. But I think what he needs are flat spacers to go between his existing pad and the pad adapter that the short trac stocks come with. It sounds like he needs to add more length than just a slightly thicker pad. Maybe you are right and I am just reading to much into his 3 inches to short comment. Bob
Wow that is a a big difference. The length of pull for the Browning should be 13.25 inches and the Savage about a half inch longer as they come from the factory. Browning has made some short stock versions of their guns over the years but I don't recall if they ever made a shorter BAR Shorttrac. The thickest pads I know of won't even get you close to the same lop as the Savage. Bob
I would do as has been suggested and put a slip on pad on it and see where I'm at. If you still need more put a couple of the shape to fit plastic spacers in and then the slip on pad.
It looks fine to me. If it's a hunting rifle function rules over looks. With the slip on pad to cover any spacers you put in you could make a spacer out of anything. Saw out a piece of wood shape it to fit, drill some holes mount it with some longer screws, Cover that with the slip on pad and hunt. If you decide to sell just remove your work and return it to what it is now.
Nice rifles, holds what 5 rounds like a bolt rifle and loads like one? But wait it can be modified for mags or not? I have always heard that bolt action rifles fire better MOA? Myth or fact?
you just find the one snickering and when and if I get another chance to come out there and hunt you have it tied up and maybe I can bring back some elk meat
meantime I will keep practicing my shooting at whitetails, hogs, and bobcats and maybe I will be able to hit a big elk if you have it tied up short enough

no sir it is three inches shorter than my Savage 110 with a limb-saver recoil pad
I have adjusted the scope as far forward as I can unless I get another base(rail type)
where can I buy these?
the guy I bought it from said he was only 5' 5" I believe it
the scope was so close before I moved it forward I would have got a black eye shooting it
I am not sure if this is a youth stock or not
are most Browning Bar's this short?
The BAR .338 WM I had in Alaska was accurate, easy to shoot and the most important thing, reliable. I hope you find the same in yours.

2 and 1/2 inches might be enough
I know I don't like the way it feels right now
This may be a option
You might be able to stack a couple of the 1/2 inch ones together

Another option may be something like this I've mainly seen used on shotguns but may work on a rifle

thanks ordered one
I hope that takes care of it for you. If it doesn't you could have a stock made to fit you.
A little redneck engineering.
Filch a couple wooden spools from the old lady's sewing kit.
Remove the pad, then using the spools as spacers, re-install the pad with 2 long screws.
Go shoot it (not on a public range!).
I did put a limb-saver slip-on recoil pad on it
it helps the feel of shouldering the rifle
have not shot it since installing pad though
it might not look better but it sure feels better
one of my hunting buddies says it looks good
what do you ins think ?

I think part of the problem is that the scope is so long
my LPS scopes are quite a bit shorter than the VarX 11
thanks for keeping me lined out ole boy
put a better scope LPS 2x10 45mm 30mm tube on the bar and the better eye relief and recoil pad have helped to make the rifle fit me better now
need to go sight it in again
Good. Give a range report when you do.
