There was some recent discussion about o/u combo guns. Here's a few

Very cool.
I had a hunting buddy that used a Vore 222/12ga for Turkey out west. Out west there are states that allow you to hunt with a rifle.
I always thought that something like the Valmet would be the ideal deer gun in my part of NC . Little pricey but nice
I wonder about the accuracy of guns constructed like that given the many discussions around free floating a bbl.

I love combo guns. However, I like them in their natural state (open sights). Putting a big scope on top just defeats the purpose and makes the shotgun part of it kind to of unwieldy/pointless.
I’d like to see one in .44 mag/20 ga or .35 Rem/12 ga with either a nice fiber optic set of open sights or a really slim/compact reflex-style red dot.

This would be fun

I have a TCR 87 with multiple barrels. When I want a combination gun, I carry the 12 ga. barrel on a short sling. It only takes a moment to switch the rifle barrel to the shotgun barrel or vice versa. It can be a .223, 30-06 or 45-70.
The Savage firearms I've owned shot well. But I've never owned one of their combo guns. I used to rabbit hunt with a guy who carried one and he shot as many rabbits with the 22 as he did with the shotgun. We were using dogs of course. I assumed his shot okay.
The Europeans have been making combo guns and double rifles for a long time and I would venture the better manufacturers are probably putting out a better product than Savage did/does. Myself, I would never expect fine accuracy out of one, just usable accuracy for the woods hunting it was designed for.
was gonna get one of the 410/22's for grandson once saw one at a gun show guy who had table beside me had it and wanted to trade me for a gun I had. I was all for it till I picked it up, it was just to heavy for a kid to carry/use for a first gun.
Since we’re talking Savages now, I will say my experience is different than some others. My Model 24, a passed down beater that’s probably getting close to 80 years old, is one of the most accurate and consistent of my .22s for open sighted shooting. That thing is a squirrel’s worst nightmare!
I killed numerous deer with my Valmet 412 some out to 250 yd. Bullet went exactly where it was suppose to.
Many years ago granddad said, "What a man needs 'round here for deer huntin' is a double-barrel shotgun. Put a load o' buckshot in one barrel and a punkin ball in the other barrel. Punkin ball 'im if he's standing still and buckshot him if he's runnin'."
That stuck with me through the years. Of course, granddad was talking about the mountains of SW Virginia - he didn't know anything else.
So to improve on that a little bit, I lusted for a 30-30/12 ga.
Savage made some at one time but they had problems and seemed to disappear.
However, Valmet came out with a 30-06/12ga so I bought one and used it quite successfully on Sitka Blacktail Deer on Kodiak and Woody islands.
Until a local pilot spotted it and decided that was exactly what he needed for a survival gun in his Supercub.
I sold it. Sorry Granddad.
I've been watching this since Sam06 posted the link. For some reason I find this one to be very interesting.
Best.
I like it too. Best thing is it comes with dies and brass so all the hard work is done. Well most of it I would need to find a mold for bullets.
That same thought was passing through my mind when I checked on it a little while ago. His 'Buy it Now' is certainly extravagant enough.
I like the fact that it's totally different from most firearms I own and the chambers are interesting. I do like shooting 16ga and 28ga as opposed to 12ga.
Best.
That one has my attention too. I have a case of 16ga 2 1/2" #6 shot
17 rounds would last me the rest of my life.
Had a .22/.410 from a grandfather. Had no use for it whatever. Went to my hunting partner.
I will be shooting .17 for the rest of my life.
Well my experience with the one I had is different from all the others. Mine was the .22 mag over 20 & the .22 mag had headspace problems. The case head would split open. Mine was different from most that I have seen since it had a selector switch on the side instead of on the hammer.
Mine originally had that side switch as well. When Grandaddy gave it to me, that part was broken, so our neighbor (a gunsmith) swapped it over to the hammer-selector.
