Would you support or understand Secession?

bpostbpost Member Posts: 32,669 ✭✭✭✭

I agree with him. The differences in thinking of the coastal (D) loving big government residents, especially the those on the west coast is anathema to the US Constitution and folks that live in fly-over states. The east coast, from Main down to North Carolina can go!

I would have no issue with the western part of Washington state telling the coast good-riddance and no issue with northern California telling Southern CA to stuff it. Oregon is toast, wall to wall nutcases, good by, don't let the door hit you in the butt on the way out. Upstate New York is salvageable but the NYC metro area can get out too!

His primary argument about what does NY have to do with the rest of the US is fundamentally flawed. He fully supports a leader who was born and raised in NY. He also fully supports Rudy who again... Is from NY.

Here's my thing. We've already violated what the foundation of this country what's supposed to protect. Stop thinking in us vs them, we are all Americans. We were never meant to agree with everything, they built the government to be a body of citizens who would fight to find the compromise.

To even consider secession a solution is in direct assault on the very thing we fight to defend. And if you are against the Constitution, one nation, you forfeit your proclamation to patriotism, At least in the United States of America.

(To even consider secession a solution is in direct assault on the very thing we fight to defend.)

What we fight to defend has changed so drastically & so much that some can no longer defend it. Society now is too fractional to survive all the factions. Especially with wealth and Money that cannot hold it in a constant value. This will be the undoing of the republic. Freedom is not created it's earned.

Not all of Oregon is toast, Bpost. Most of the counties are still red but the blue ones have most of the population. From the Cascades east, with the exception of Deschutes county, we're Trump Red.

Just how would you make secession work? Military, interstate commerce, borders and immigration and all the rest of those pesky considerations. Not to mention making our economy smaller and having less influence on the world stage. Secession in my opinion is unworkable so I prefer to continue to fight liberal change and policies in a united country. Bob

There comes the time when they will pull the rug form underneath you bob,the big reset is coming and your not going to like it. Too much wealth in to small of hands, the left or right is nothing but an illusion now. Agenda 2030 with The U,N. & climate change is going to be the reason for de facto socialism. Once we get through the bottleneck and have Nuclear Fusion with quantum Artificial Intelligence we will all live in utopia!

You just have got to survive the great culling first. Just my two cents!

I think Alaska would do very well. We have all the oil, precious metals, timber, 2 military bases, the Early Warning system, the anti-ICBM network, plenty of protein on the hoof and swimming in the sea, and we're learning to grow veggies, darn it.

Oh, and $60 billion in savings.

First order of business: cut off ALL social safety net programs. Watch the Special Interests and Ca/Or/Wa expats leave the state like rats from a sinking ship. Nirvana.

Now who's going to promise to send us lots and lots of ammo?

O.K. I am open to any reasonable (ie. effective) solutions. Since you have made yourself the harbinger of doom, perhaps you have some of those solutions. I am not sure how your post is related to the original premise and question of this topic, but if you could stick to the topic and give me your thoughts on how to successfully have state secessions it would be appreciated. Or if you don't think secessions are workable, how do we get out of this mess?

Changing the subject to address one of your points, I am afraid we are still quite a few years away from fusion as a power source. Every year for the past 50 years they have said it is 20 -30 years away and they are still saying that. The current multi country project in France seems to show the most promise but they won't have any results from their experiments for another 20 years. Of course, being cynical, those results will probably be used to justify funding for more experiments... Ad infinitum. Bob

Predicting Chaos is a hard job, that's what those quantum computers are for. All the governments are pushing for Fusion power who have the wherewithal and it's advancing faster than you think. The two phenomenons devices are linked believe it or not it's the black sun. Despite its invisible interior, the presence of a black hole can be inferred through its interaction with other matter and with electromagnetic radiation such as light. Matter falling onto a black hole can form an accretion disk heated by friction, forming some of the brightest objects in the universe

I would support it. The USA has gotten way too large, both geography and people, and WAY too much power id concentrated in Washington, DC. However, I think the separation needs to be along ideological lines not just based on existing state lines. That said, I think that Texas is in the ideal position to break away first. It's very large, both population and area, can easily be self-sustaining, and has excellent shipping access, both by land and sea.

  • Don McManusDon McManus Member Posts: 23,672 ✭✭✭✭

Secession will be based upon principle and not geography. NY is a state of mind, and it is not even all of New York, just as it is not all of California, Oregon, Washington, Texas, etc.

Secession from a government that has thrown out the principles of the US Constitution would be patriotic, as the essence of the United States of America has nothing to do with geography, rather it is the Constitution and the power of the individual States and the rights of the Individual that document once represented.

I would fully support a peaceful and reasonable secession. A secession of peoples that believe in themselves and in the liberties our Great Grandparents were born with and the liberties they and subsequent generations decided were passé.

A peaceful secession that resulted in two countries that differed significantly in philosophy, but were wedded in their understanding of their position in the world and and the need to be close allies economically and militarily would be the goal. There would be significant migration during the transition. This should be encouraged, as like thinking people should be together.

This compromise crap has created a sewer of takers and petty tyrants who in reality have no inkling or, frankly, reason to compromise as the statists take greater and greater control of the machinations of government and mainstream media.

Secession should have been a peaceful acceptance of a significant change in the status quo in 1860, and it can be a peaceful acceptance of diametrically opposed views of governance today.

Absent a strong rebuke of the path upon which we are walking and a meaningful return to limited Constitutional Governance, the only thing I see that will prevent secession in the next few decades will be an Article 5 Constitutional Convention that returns meaning to our founding and places strict limitation upon government, particularly Federal Government excesses.

Freedom and a submissive populace cannot co-exist.

Nice wish list but you show no plans for implementing those changes.

1.Term limits - Sounds good on the face of it but can generate its own problems. Also since congress would have to propose a constitutional amendment to get it accomplished, I doubt it will come to pass. Here is some interesting reading concerning state term limits. Term Limits: What Do They Do? | IPPSR (msu.edu2.

2.Real money - Based on what? Will you create the crash you are warning about by changing over? How many people will lose assets because there is nothing at this time that is valuable enough to back all the worlds currencies?

3.Human nature being what it is this will never happen. Trump probably fulfilled more promises during his term than any modern day president and it looks like he is being replaced with a guy that has promised pie in the sky for 47 years and delivered pretty much nothing. It looks like a lot of people want a feel good president over a get it done president.

4.Oh hell no! way to much intrusion by the government in peoples lives all ready. There will always be winners and losers and the government should have no say in the matter.

5.Sounds good but how far do you go? Some can argue that S.S. is welfare. After all what I collect every month is not the money that I paid to S.S. every week during my working years. That money went to pay those people ahead of me and I am getting benefits because of people paying in now. It is a tax on the working to pay money to those not working. Isn't that welfare? Should we have less welfare? My answer is an emphatic yes but where do you start and again how far do you go?

Having goals is a good thing but attaining those goals is sometimes a double edged sword.

    Bob

  • serfserf Member Posts: 9,217 ✭✭✭✭

#2 Governments have been debasing real money for a long time, why do you think they have ridges on coins. But with Fiat money they do it by a computer stroke.

    # 3 Is very important and politics scam us all the time just like Bush Jr. saying he was not in the nation building before invading Iraq and finding No WMD's at all! It was all hype and propaganda from the Illuminati

#4 Is already happening if some one else is losing money like seat belt laws and sin tax on cigarettes.

#5 If you had real money with interest I would be fine With your summation with S.S. but not S.S.I. Welfare is a trap for uneducated people. Workfare is a better solution.

Having Honest Goals is for winners not for losers.

    serf

  • BobJudyBobJudy Member Posts: 6,630 ✭✭✭✭

Once again you point out problems but do not give any way of correcting those perceived problems or attaining your goals. All you did was add what you consider justification to your points. Kind of like having a mechanic confirming your car won't run but not offering a solution. Not very helpful. Can you show a way of fixing those concerns without making things worse? This country has for years taken the easy way out and gone for short term solutions knowing full well that those solutions would lead to long term problems down the road. It may be welfare dependence or national debt or a myriad of other things but most attempts at correcting anything just generates more problems. For instance the original premise of this topic was secession. If this occurs some will get short term gratification out of it. However breaking the country up will only weaken both the economy and our standing as a world power. Who would have the most to gain down the road if this happens? Perhaps you should bone up on your Mandarin, it might come in handy. Bob

There is no way to make it better before it gets worst but you have hit on something. Once they get all the surveillance in place with total control with 5G and the internet of all things in place, they will pull the plug on The old Fiat money and replace it with The new digtial dollar if we will accept a new central world order to control us all.

Maybe even a break on old debt with a partial jubilee to sweeten the choice of being saved from being abandoned and left behind but you see none will be left behind if it's a world of governments with one currency being calculated for all trades of commerce across the system for international Corporations with Tax havens. Hello FED NOW! Of course all taxes will be collected at the time of sale and no under the table cash transfers will be possible. Their will be no fiat cash period.

    https://techcrunch.com/2019/08/05/the-federal-reserve-announces-plans-for-a-real-time-payments-system-that-will-be-available-to-all-banks/

For example, real-time payments mean people living on tight budgets will have to rely less on costly check-cashing services and high-interest loans and will incur less overdraft and late fees. Small businesses will also benefit because they can avoid short-term loans with high-interest rates.

**** The proposal has gained the support of Google’s head of payments, Caesar Sengupta, and Democratic lawmakers including U.S. Senators Elizabeth Warren and Chris Van Hollen and Representatives Ayanna Pressley and Jesús García.

In a statement, Warren, who is campaigning for the Democratic presidential nomination, said, “I’m glad the Fed has finally taken action to ensure that people living paycheck-to-paycheck don’t have to wait up to five days for a check to clear so that they can pay their rent, cover child care, or pick up groceries. Today’s Fed action will also help small businesses by making payments from customers available more quickly. I look forward to working with the Fed to ensure a swift and smooth implementation of this system.”

FedNow will be a universal infrastructure, enabling all banks, including smaller ones, to provide real-time payments.

Furthermore, the traditional retail payment methods used for transferring funds not only creates frustrating delays, but can “result in a build-up of financial obligations between banks which, as faster payment usage grows, could present risks to the financial system, especially in times of stress,” the Federal Reserve Board said.

Rush did not say that. I listened to him debunking the fake news about this very topic. He was not too happy about it. The media gets a free pass on lying.

But as far as secession, a state may secede, but the nation cannot. There is nothing in the Constitution that says a parallel or authentic body of people working under the document is illegal. In other words, we need a leader, who can get the message out that we are re invoking the constitution from the ground up.

Or if one wanted to work within the current political mess, a constitutional convention could work, providing again, that we have decent leadership.

The constitution is not being followed and to restore it, we need to start from scratch.

These traitors are not following the constitution and haven't since Obama the illegitimate was pretending to be president. When our elite did not vet him, the USA died as we knew it. Tyranny will not follow the constitution.

A constitutional convention should take place. The patriots and law abiding will have to do some work to unseat the pretenders and traitors occupying the federal assets.

Thomas Jefferson, Franklin, and other Founding Fathers saw these days coming. That's why they left us with comments in the Federalist Papers and elsewhere saying that if the government becomes intolerable, the people have the right to abolish it and replace it just like was done in 1776.

We are at a point where there are irreconcilable differences.

The liberals hate traditional conservative American values. And they don't just want us to accept them. They demand that we agree with them. They demand that we acquiesce to them. The "make my wedding cake or I'll destroy you" attitude.

And, to be honest, I hate their values. Transgender-ism, victim-ism, collective-ism, big government-ism. I can live and let live. I can't acquiesce. If you don't want to make my cake, I probably don't want you to. I'll move on.

I don't understand how we'd split the country. Other than a few states, most of the opposition to the Constitutional/conservative lifestyle is located in big cities. And those cities are in almost every state. So, short of emptying the cities by force....hmmmm.

Simple. Build big tall walls 100 feet high around each city. Then when all the liberals have gone inside and locked the door, fill them with water.
