I have a chance to buy one of these slightly used. Always wanted an EOTECH. What are the opinions out there about these? I also want a TRIJICON ACOG but that is too much $$ for now.

I like Eotech and have had a few. I have a new one (XPS2-0) sitting here on my desk as I type this and they are great sights. I also have a 4x ACOG that I like but the eye relief is much shorter with that than the Eotech so the Eotech is better in some applications.
I have a 512 on one of my AR's with that circle-dot reticle and love it. Easy to bang an 18" plate at 300 yards. The XPS is a shorter/lighter version that uses CR123 batteries instead of AA like the 512. I don't think you'll be disappointed if you buy it.
Well.................I bought it. EXPS2-0..............I got it for a screaming deal and like it.
The written warranty sheet that came with my used 512 says that no-cost warranty repairs will be given only to the original purchaser. A malfunction is unlikely with any Eotech, but, still, that doesn't give you a warm fuzzy feeling.

I sold them and used them on rental guns for almost 20 years and only saw one I had to send back. It belonged to a friend. was old and beat up.
I bought an Eotech...afterall our military uses them...then there were problems.
They seemed reluctant to address the problems.
I returned mine under the recall.
I'm a Trijicon fan now.

Yes, but that recall was pertinent to battery leakage in non lithium AA batteries I believe. The one I got uses the CR123 and I bought the more expensive lithium batteries for it.
I have wanted one for awhile and finally found a good deal.......jumped on it. The thing is practically new. Me happy...........now I need a Trigicon ACOG and my life will be complete.........😉
Not a battery problem
And it took a civil fraud lawsuit to get them to correct it.
Wow......is there a way for me to tell if my unit was affected?
The effects occur at extreme temps. -40 and +120. Not something guys like you and I will ever likely need to deal with. I've use mine down to about 15 degrees and up to 100 +/- and have had 0 issues.

Bad for HALO jump from an airplane into the hot desert.
Doubt a civilian would ever have those issues.
I think it may have been used on some bad guys
I have EOTechs on all my primary ARs. I have tried every site and for CQ they are faster than anything else. I sold off everything else
The only problems I have had are buying a used one and the seller did not realize L3 will fix it free way past warranty. I sent one back that was beat with no box and not only did they fix it they touched up the finish and gave me a new box no charge
