Press prices have sure gone up

Dad said he had some small rifle primers I could have so I decided I would start rebuilding my reloading equipment. The Forster Co-Ax is what I had, paid $180 for it, now I see it retails for around $350, and everybody is out of stock. On the secondary market they are bringing $450 used and they're asking $650 for a new one...just ridiculous. Guess it will be awhile before I get a press.

I am no reloader though I have done a fair amount and all I know is buy Dillon Blue.
Dillon makes nice stuff, but I reload to relax and actually prefer a single stage press.
I have zero problem letting people keep their overpriced goods.
I like single stage to. Old brain can't keep.
Removed my MEC single stage loaders and replace with Ponsness Warren.
Busier than a woodpecker in a furniture factory just trying to keep them going.
I use RCBS single stages for all my handgun and rifle loading. Don't do it for the speed but for the satisfaction of "hand" loading.
Lyman T-Mag for 38 and 44 mag
Dillion 550B for 9mm
RCBS Rock Chucker for 243
Ponsness Warren 800B, MEC 9000H and a MEC 600 Jr for 12ga
Your best bet might be to put an ad in the Wanted forum here to see what the members have put away. Then try the local gun clubs and reloading groups. Our local range has a swap meet twice a year where the prices are just downright reasonable.

Here's a press that I never heard of. Check out the price. It looks like it may be some type of turret press, one step up from a single stage. I didn't research it.

Take the time to think it through. What do you NEED and what can you or want afford?
To take it one step further:
Not everyone needs a $4,000 scope.
Not everyone needs $1,200 press.
Not everyone needs a $600 primer seater.
Not everyone needs an $1,800 case trimmer.
Not everyone needs a $9,000 custom rifle.
Those that have little to no limitations on their spending can generally buy what intrigues them. Those of us with limitations on our spending have to consider the consequences of overspending and where to devote our resources for the best effect.
If you are satisfied with the quality of the ammunition you produce on RCBS equipment then you have no problem. If you harvest game with your factory Ruger, Savage or Remington, you have no problem. I refuse to overspend for items which are simply overpriced. But, if someone designs a better piece of equipment which really works better, I'm all in.
