Won't ship to PO boxes

I don't get it... ordered a couple light timers and the seller won't ship to PO boxes. So DHL picks the package in North Carolina, sends it all the way to California. THEN sends it back to Billings, Montana. THEN they turn around and give it to USPS who puts it in my PO box anyway. This process takes a total of 12 days and it gets delivered to my PO box anyway. :?
I live way out in the sticks and FED EX, UPS and DHL would rather just drop off at the Post Office. Why do sellers exclude PO boxes? It would just save everyone a lot of trouble if they just used the mail...

Almost all fraud cases of phoney internet sales go to PO boxes.
Most on line payment systems won't cover loses to the seller if items are shipped to a PO box.
There is really no way to check/chase down an "owner" of a PO box. With a fugazy ID, you have a drop off point to steal internet purchases then just disappear.
"Why do sellers exclude PO boxes?"
The sellers did not exclude PO boxes...here are the rules by the USPS: "P.O. Boxes – The USPS will not ship ammo of any kind. The USPS also does not permit private carriers to deliver to a P.O. Box. Therefore, online ammo retailers are effectively barred from shipping to PO Box addresses."
Just to satisfy my curiosity, how did you manage to locate this two year old thread? No matter. We've been eagerly waiting these 100+ weeks for the answer.
And of all the possible two year old threads to pull up, why this one for a first post?
Welcome aboard, Hemus. Tell us about you.
Someone is hiding a hammer behind their back huh???🤣
There are entire towns here where every resident has a PO box because there is not door to door delivery. Makes no sense to me to not ship to PO boxes.
I few times I used the street address of the post office as my address when I was buying something and ran into this problem. Then the postmaster just told me I could use my own street address and since there was not home delivery they would put it in my PO Box anyway.
Easy solution for me. If you won't ship to my PO Box, I won't buy from you. There are lots of other girls to dance with.
And the original post had nothing to do with ammo!
I know this is old.....but, it might be that the ATF will not allow someone to use a PO box on the 4473, so PO boxes have a little hinge of "don't do this" in a gun dealer's brain. Who knows really, but I don't ship to PO boxes unless I'm specifically told to by someone.
