wife sent home early

Ditch-RunnerDitch-Runner Member Posts: 25,399 ✭✭✭✭

it was my wifes 1st day back after the holiday shutdown and was sent home thanks to a DA

back story . company rules you have to be there the last day before and 1st day back on a holiday shutdown to get all your holiday pay

the same company did a 200.00 bonus I think per week for showing up for work with out missing started in November due to so many people taking off but you could not miss a day to get the bonus

so 1st day back after lunch she gets called over, off line and sent home for coming in contact with a fellow who tested positive for covid earlier today . the full time people get paid full while home by the company when sent home as a precaution , my wife a temporary ( for 27 yrs ) has to file for unemployment for being sent home for under suspicion of contact with a carrier . so ball Park she has 10 days off

the good news if any besides the obvious extended time off the latest bill added back the 300.00 to unemployment so she will be back to about normal pay with it included in , but will loose the time for the bonus $$ but they will not take it just start the count over on her return

what ticks me off and I am sure many more who were sent home

the sad part the * came to work was sick his wife has Covid tested positive told several at work he was s ick and so he tested positive today also he knew he was not suppose to come in under those conditions but did not want to loose his bonus money so came on in now I am sure more like my wife were sent home he came in contact with while working in the area .

green font "its Ok the company made them start wearing mask last fall . "

serious she only was around him a few minutes no direct contact , just happen to within there 6' guide lines so her risk has to be almost zero .

so many people in different areas of the plant have been sent home but her area was spared until now

27 year temp. That’s gotta be some sort of a record.

    Hope she is safe

where I use to work Mondays and Fridays were always short help so they started a deal for people to work as temps just on Mon and Fri used a temp agency as a filter . after a short time six months of so they would get the same per hour rate as the normal full time associates , just no benefits but since I worked there ( part of the requirement all insurance was thru me ) she went to being a 40 hour temp when I retired to boost her SS when she retires

they also finely gave the temps a some what inexpensive insurance to buy into to

Before I retired from GM in '92 one of my good friends, Doc Z, and I would take off the final work day of the year. We both hadn't miss a day of work all year and the reward(?) for not missing a day was a lunch in the executive dinning room. Why would we want lunch with a bunch of Sr. management that wouldn't normally give us the time of day!

It's too late for me, save yourself.

I did have one manager I ( most did not get along with ) he would have breakfast or lunch meetings associates could opt out

but as a lower management we had no choice had to go . so my day came . I went in sat down did not say a work refused any food

    he ask why ? I said you can force me to be here but you cant force me to eat with you .... I choose who I will eat with ;

so we agreed to dis agree and move on

he told us as boss he knew he would not be popular he got that right ) out side the place off work would or could be buddies in a meeting one day a lot of the brownnosers played golf and spent off duty time with him . I did remind them of there shinny noses

about a year after the breakfast ordeal he had moved on to torment another department LOL

I was walking out to my truck after work one day heard my name I looked it was my old manager acted like we good old pals

yes I understood his way of thinking work / play "as I was in charge of people also " but he sucked at it LOL
