niece passed away
my wife's niece passed away today she was a only child her dad departed some time ago health issues ( a army ranger vet from Vietnam )
any way the niece was very close to us when younger but over time and living so far apart not so much interaction , we knew diabetes had plagued her her whole life . but we found out she had a stoke and it blinded her and for the most part made her bed ridden but she would not or allow her husband to tell the family of her problems . there was more to it health wise but no matter the details she was struggling with but sounds like she decided to go did not want any extra support to keep her alive wrote it all out and signed paper work while she still able, she did say she was ready and looking forward to seeing her dad and her beloved Weiner dogs again
my wife is taking it hard she was close to her brother and the niece .
we know her mom was with her and not sure if her husband made it as he was on the road ( truck driver ) to be with her . she was in a induced coma , when she passed
add a story a old buddy and also my youngest sons FIL is on his last days also so may issues and organ failing he too says he just wants to go and get out of the pain and frustration of not being able to do any thing he is refusing to take any more meds or treatments, not long for the world . truly sad but at some point I think most of us realize quality of life over just being alive is more important and ready to see what if any thing is awaiting

Very sorry for you and your wife's loss ditch-runner. How old was your niece?
Blindness has always been a fear worse than death for me. I can understand many of your niece's concerns about her living will.
May you and your family find comfort in God's loving arms and may your niece RIP. Joel
Condolences
Thank you
I think she was right around 50 maybe 51 years old she was just a young girl and still lived here in Ohio with her parents , when I met my wife
I agree about being blind i had fast growing cataract's last year with in about a month I stopped driving in fear of hurting some one . I did have them repaired but I also decided no way i would want to be blind
my departed MIL had several strokes toward her end one took her sight also . terrible thing to happen to any one

Dave I've gone through this many times. It never gets any easier, but the way I got through it was knowing that they were not suffering anymore. My sincere condolences to you and your family.
