*me sleeping in my bed, husband and I have to get up around 3am to open our new shop as we try to get back on our feet.*

*phone buzzing off hook... emails from one NONbidder demanding I (not my husband) take pictures of myself with the gun to prove I own it. Ignore him.*

*This morning:*

"Dude you aren't even a bidder and there are 20 bidders trusting the pay system, and Gunbroker's system. I have work to do."

"But I'm offering to hit buy it now!"

"So have 10 other people. Either do it or don't."

"SO YOUR LISTING IS A SCAM!?!?!?!?"

‐---------------

How do you older timers deal with these kids?? I'm used to the shop my husband and I ran for years... if people acted like this in the shop we'd throw them out. What the h***?

In this modern age it is easier than tossing them out. Tell them to have a nice day, hang up on them go to the needed page on your phone and block their number, it will provide you better slumber.

    Yep

Religion other than the "Religion of peace" does not go well with the politically correct counterculture forced upon us by the media both main stream and social, along with academia, and in government.

The problem is that Gunbroker doesn't allow you to stop them emailing you without literally blocking gunbroker emails.

I actually 100% agree with you on this. Back when, even though we were all different religions, every one lived under basically the same moral principals. We all basically had the same generalized understanding that "this is how an upstanding, moral person behaves," and when doing business you wanted to be seen as these things... people all ACTED a certain way, or no one did business with them until they did.

Now they have become accustomed to half of society telling them that any form of behavioral rules are 'oppression,' instead of what they truly are which is CIVILIZATION... they have lost all concept of a need to act as a moral, upstanding human being because no matter how they act they get what ever they want from stores and businesses anyway - or they sue. Thankfully in online dealings like Gunbroker they don't have that option, but they tend to be even less moralistic when dealing with people behind the safety of a screen and a thousand miles.

Here in Texas you still get busted in the head, or on the backend, by your parents - even in public - (as long as you don't live in one of the 3 liberal cities) if you don't act in an upstanding way as a child. Maybe it's that lack that makes me feel half the people I deal with when selling online need to be busted upside the head.

Everyone has their own experiences. Burned once and all of that. Then some people (maybe most people) transfer bad experience onto others when they don't need to. Humans be humans.

"With the lack of religion everything is just about yourself only."

Did you ever read any of "The Satanic Bible," by Anton LaVey? I was surprised in that the main theme is not about the worship of Satan, but the worship of SELF. Whatever the individual wants to do is OK, and it doesn't matter who else is hurt.

About the only phone calls I get are from buyers telling me that payment is enroute, or asking for an address. Both questions are totally unnecessary. The payment will get here when it gets here, and my address is on the end-of-auction email I sent, and it's on the order page.

I do get silly emails. There is the lowball offer. I have learned to politely decline. Lowball offers mean someone, probably a lot of someones, is interested and the item will sell soon, probably for the Buy Now price.

Another silly email I get is a non-buyer asking questions. "What is the measurement between this point and that?" "Is that a crack or a scratch?" (No. It's a piece of lint.) EVERY TIME, after I get the item out, measure, weigh, wipe, re-photograph, and respond to the non-buyer, that's the LAST I hear from him. I reckon he was just curious, and not actually interested in buying.

Most of the questions I get could be answered by the inquirer, if he would only READ the Item Description and Additional Terms of Sale, and/or look at the pictures. Apparently, no one, or nearly no one, bothers to read anymore. Maybe they didn't learn how.

I'm still trying to work out what the title of this thread says.

I just do everything I can to move forward as quickly as possible and be done with these people.

This past Sunday we had a guy win a gun....he emails the instant he won it saying "This is too much."

I just ignored that message totally and when all of the auctions had ended I sent my typical winning bidder email out to everyone. He replied to the winning bidder email saying "There will be no checkout I am not paying."

So I replied to him saying if he failed to complete the auction I will have to file the non paying bidder report and give him bad feedback. He replies saying "Others went for $755 I can show you." I told him I didn't have any control over what he bid and other auctions aren't something I care anything about, he won the gun and its his for the winning bid HE entered.

He got worse as it went on and told me he wasn't paying.....so I told him I was relisting the gun and we were done. I got it going that very night. He gave me bad feedback and called me names. I sent over an email to support telling them I had bad feedback from a non paying bidder and please remove it. (They did.) Then the guy called......he tells Shelby he wants to speak to the "dishonest person" he has been emailing back and forth with. I get on the phone and he starts going on about how he was told by Gun Broker that I could remove his bid within 48 hours. I told him....DID YOU ASK US TO REMOVE YOUR BID 48 HOURS BEFORE YOU WON?

He starts ranting about how he couldn't pay for it because I relisted it. I told him.....You told us you weren't paying, so I didn't waste any more time. He starts going on about how he is calling the ATF and I was in deep trouble. I asked him if he wanted the cell number to the ATF agent that is the Sargent over our area??? He saying he had it....and I told him PLEASE call them. You know you are dealing with a real piece of work when they think they pull the ATF out of their hat as a weapon.

I hung up on him and he kept calling throughout the day. He blocked his number.....like a moron....because I have all of his contact info from the auction he won. Some people are just a lot slower than the rest of everyone out there and when you run into one of them you get to feel like a genius compared to them.

Whoooooeeeeeeeeeee. I love threads like this.

I have sold over 600k items in the last 25 years on ebay, and before that, I sold on the newsgroups, starting in 1987, before the "internet" really exists the way it does today. I currently ship about 100 items a day.

    A few things:

WHY WHY WHY WHY do you have your phone number listed? This is an ONLINE BUSINESS......ZERO reason to talk to people and waste your time. 99.999% of people calling you WILL waste your time, as you can see above. If people don't want to email, they don't get to talk to me. TIME IS MONEY!

IF people email me, and ask more than 3 questions that are answered in the listing, I IGNORE THEM! Because they won't buy, and if they do buy, they'll be a royal pain in the butt! So, ignore those people.

IF people are asking just completely stupid questions, it is often just to see if you'll reply to emails, if they have a problem. These folks are different than the dumbos above, who don't bother to read. I just answer those emails with a short answer, just to assure them we are here.

Don't argue with the morons about paying, etc. Just ignore them and move on. You have other things to do.

    Happy Selling!

Kasey you should keep a list of non paying bidders with their addresses. Now that you are running all over the USA you can make a quick stop. A can of dayglow orange spray paint to do some home decorations, and a couple of pounds of shrimp left in strategic locations will make you feel better.

    Ricci,

Short story for you: WAAAAAAAAAAY back in the early days of the internet (pre-www) I did a LOT of trading on the newsgroups.

Well, I did a trade for $100+ in stuff (rare videogame stuff) with this guy in the UK. And he stiffed me.

A friend of mine who was 6'5" and weighed about 350 lbs just happened to be going to London, and I told him "If you look this guy up, and get any money, you can keep the money" and he was GAME!

So, he found the guy's address, and said "I'm here to collect for Mercury"

Guy didn't say much, just gave him $100+ in pounds, whatever it was at the time......

Can you imagine thinking you'd gotten away with screwing someone, and some giant hairy * knocks on your door? LOL!

    I still laugh about it.

Oh...........my friend split the money with me! So I got some of it back.

The more I deal with people- the more I like my cat.

People say there is no such thing as a stupid question- and they are right- but there ARE stupid people ASKING questions. One of my granddaughters deals with them every day. "Why is this so much? Why can't you give me last week's sale price? Why are you sold out of that? "

She is 17 years old, and a part-time cashier at a grocery store. REALLY? You think a 17 year old controls the prices that a grocery store chain sets? That's nice. How do you feel about unicorns and pixies?

Its funny because of how ridiculous the real idiots can be. For the most part the NPB are rare and we don't see that many of them. I get a few here and there....they just don't pay, no stories, no far fetched tales. Rarely do I get the crazy tales and excuses, but they come around every once in a while. Its the super crazy nutjobs that you see once every 3-5 years that take the cake....hit it out of the park....and blow your ever lovin' mind with how outlandish they truly are. Last Sunday's NPB is one of those guys.....I'm still getting emails from this guy. I told him I was blocking his email, so I don't know if he's still going on or not....I bet he is though.

That is why Kasey gets the big bucks! She is pretty good at handling the dead beats. If they default and don't follow through it may take an extra week or so to get sold. All you have to do is let her do the worrying and wait for her to tell you your check is in the mail. Besides if she gets a non paying yahoo we might get a cool story out of it.😁 Bob

When the flakes get into their blizzard of e-mails just send them this GIF and then ignore them.
