what happens if u got delayed
Comments
Having your wife/girlfriend purchase it for you is considered a straw purchase which is illegal.
so what happens to the gun?
guns already paid for bud
It doesn't matter if it's paid for, without the green light from the feds you aren't getting the gun. I'm not sure what the shop will do in that situation. I wouldn't worry too much, delays are common lately.
no * but i tryed a couple months ago and got delayed for it and have a clean record so hopefully it dont happen again since its already paid for
delayed means just that, denied is what you have to worry about...........
Delay just means they are looking into it more. If it happened "a couple months ago", what was the outcome?
Most people that get a delay in my store and almost all those that get denied all have something in common, they tell me how clean their record is. I can look up the people that live in my state and nearly every one of them it is readily apparant why they are not allowed to purchase a firearm. So the question is...just how clean is your record?
If you get a CCW most purchases go through at the counter without delay. The system is way over loaded now with people buying guns. Common names, not using your SSN on the 4473 and other things can cause a delay but usually it gets cleared up in a few days.
If you have an arrest record of any nature it can also cause issues even if you were not convicted of a crime.
This might explain for you the delay procedure and what NICS is going through now.
The ffl license holder has no choice but to follow the guidelines. As ridgleart pointed out, having someone else do the background check for you is considered a straw purchase and that can have some pretty stiff penalties. Be patient and you will get your gun. Bob
Delays are quite common as there a lot of gun sales going on right now. And guess who is short handed due to you know what.
Make sure FFL has given correct info to NICS. A misspelled name will mess things up.
Be patient. Not the dealers fault if all is done correctly.
If my weak mind remembers correctly the item can be transferred after 3 business days with out a proceed from NICS.
I will throw this in, a dealers good judgment should come into play here also.
Comment about someone else, they might get a delay also.
Beto’s shutting you down.
Ha ha, If sales person/dealer calls or emails info forr an NICs check and they drag and drag along before telling you anything, might want to keep a sharp eye out.😥
Dealers release a gun after 3 business days if there is no proceed or deny issued. Not all will. I had one held for 30 days and then demanded they re-submit and it cleared immediately. I no longer do business with S W. Ask your transfer FFL what his policy is.
big brother knows things
You can have a name and other identifiers close enough to another person. Or identity theft. See about getting a unique personal identification number. That requires fingerprints etc at a sherrifs dept etc. But great for identity theft victims.
PIN number is good
sure will got a lever action marlin 336 about 5 years ago in my name so i will fight it this time
I have a squeaky clean record also including a CCW permit and non-resident permits in five other states along with a C&R license and I still get delayed on just about every purchase.
Spot on, I see this all the time.
