You need to get them turkeys to move out the way so you can target practice! Don

SW Missouri
Your a truly lucky family fantastic property
Thanks for sharing
Great pictures, except for the snakes.
You better watch out! When Mogely gets to feelin' better he might be hangin' out at your waterfalls!
Looks like a sweet spot, thanks for sharing.
You lost me at the snake pics . Grew up around cooper heads . No thanks !
My grandparents used to have a family farm outside of Springfield.......sure is pretty country.
You got a lot of crawly things where you live ..........................
Nice to see the pics!
We have 18" of snow on the ground and far below zero every night for the next week or two. I don't think Copperheads will be out and about for a while.
Love those copperheads, one of the most beautiful snakes in NA. Especially those Osage.
They certainly are a beautiful snake, just wish they would stay away from my front porch.
I was just thinking - that sure looks like Missouri.
We spent our first year in Springfield, now we live about 45 minutes SE of there.
“Some bear scat in the driveway “.
Put you a rear seat from a Chevy, which you sit on a lot, being mostly unemployed, and add an old washing machine. The neighbors will think you are a native, and the copperheads won't go near the place. They have more taste.😁
There are certainly areas around here that resemble that.
Don't I know it, There were even more in the 50's and 60's. Sad to say I remember it well.
My grandparents farm was close to "Crystal Cave" now closed and for sale..........don't remember the roads around there but Walnut Grove I think was a close town.........I could Google it but...........
my grandparents got old.......had a big farm auction..........sold it...........moved to Texas to be close to family........they are both gone now and the property has been sub-divided.....
Crystal was/is one of the loveliest little caves in Missouri. Enough off the beaten path to ever have much traffic.
Great pics. I gotta say, the southern part of our state is indeed beautiful. With the hills, old mountains, caves and rivers it is paradise for us outdoors types.
It sure is Susie.
How much snow do you guys get? I might want to move.
This year we've probably had 1.5 inches.
Very nice pictures.
I never get the time to be out on my property to get pictures. All I ever do is go out and get wood and make so much noise with chainsaws and equipment that no animals come around.
I did some scouting for deer season and did see a lot of deer activity and some bear scat so I know they are there.
I've only seen the bears a couple of times, but the neighbor has some game cam pics of four of them destroying one of his feeders.
Nice pictures. Is your dog a black mouth Cur? Pretty dog.
No, that;s a Rhodesian Ridgeback, but they do look similar.
Did you have a lot of Locust hatch out of the your grounds this past Spring?
I always found that when the Locust hatch was large you would see more Cooper Heads. They love to eat them as they are coming out, and will be found around a base of a tree, or structure of some type.
Trinity +++
No. we rarely even hear locusta around here. But they do come up around breeding season, and when the little toads start taking over.
Crystal Cave was my favorite part of that place............my grandparent's farm was about 5 miles away and they were childhood friends with the sisters that owned it.............I spent many summer trips going there as a kid and I always liked Crystal Cave more than Silver Dollar City (which was also a pretty neat place for kids). At one time, my Grandad told me that they sent a dive team into the cave to map underground river/spring inlets and outlets...........don't know what the outcome was. Last time I was there was in about '91-'92...........got to take a buddy of mine to the farm before it was sold, to deer hunt. My grandparents were old at that time, but were very gracious hosts. My buddy and I took and watched a new WWII series called "Band of Brothers" with us to watch at night. My grandad was a Navy man who ended up in Japan after the Hiroshima bomb and he stayed up later than usual to watch it with us................
I could go on and on................
You know that the Crystal Cave property is/was for sale right now? I tried to talk some of my family into a deal........but nobody wants to live there now.😔

looks like a sale might be pending..............I sure hope it gets opened up again for tours.
Speaking of Silver Dollar City............ever been there? Do you remember "Fire in the Hole"? Do you remember the "Bald Knobbers"?
I was in Crystal as a kid, in the 50's. The old guy that I guess owned it at the time, turned on the lights and told us to be careful and not touch nothin'. Mom and I went in. It was heaven.
I just realized it was Fairy cave not Crystal.😵
