Much comment in the article about the perp wearing a black shirt as well as the guy in his backyard wearing a black shirt.

Also on the same page is a photo of two officers from the department being sworn in as special deputy marshals https://www.eastidahonews.com/2021/01/2-idaho-falls-police-officers-sworn-in-as-special-deputy-marshals/ (also wearing black clothes).

I sure hope they don't just shoot anyone because they are wearing black shirts.

Color is one of the key aspects of camouflage (an attempt to remain unseen) - probably not one of the best ideas if you are a police officer running around in someone's backyard at night chasing a guy wearing a black shirt.

Why does the "thin blue line" wear black . . . and is black the best color to be wearing while you are running around in the dark? Sure I know they usually have "POLICE" in big white letters . . . on the back of the uniform.

    Bad all around, two thoughts

one will the suspect be charged with murder , during the crime ? It was his fault for running

two ... rule no. 1882 If there is a fugitive pursuit in your area do not walk out in your backyard brandishing a gun and if you see an officer , drop it and hands up

Although always described as a cowboy, Roswellnative generally acts as a righter of wrongs or bodyguard of some sort, where he excels thanks to his resourcefulness and incredible gun prowesses.

They should require I.Q. tests be given to potential "officers of the law". WAY too many "Barney Phiff's" out there🤨

I doubt he recognized the situation any better than the officer did. Your suggestion that we should all be prepared to immediately recognize a police threat to our existence while in our own yard where we have a right to be, carrying a gun we have a right to carry, is disturbing. How about police act like the professionals they are supposed to be and quit shooting law abiding citizens and kids carrying toy guns on their way to play with their friends.

There is no justification for this.

    terrible on so many levels

prayers to the family and also the officers ( easy to blame them but I was not there ) but they will live it with it rest of there life the city will be paying out a huge sum but that will not bring back Dad

as a side not I can only image ( well not really ) if it had been a minority shot in his back yard by the police

No question how this shooting will be ruled........... Accidental.

But that doesn't dismiss liability. This will cost the city or their insurance a lot. Just a sad accident, same as if the man was ran down by the cops during a chase.
