Prayers asked,..............
If that is still allowed that is.
An ex-employee of mine that I have remained friends with is in very bad shape. He appears to have acute liver failure, regardless of the fact he was a very low key drinker. To make things worse, he just tested positive for COVID in the hospital, and is being move to the quarantine floor.
Nobody seems to be able to figure out what is going on right now, but things don't look good at all. He has started with the blood clot issue that goes along with COVID, and is on Heparin as well as many other meds.
He is a good guy (42), and has two young kids that can't even visit him, nor can the rest of his family. I have been speaking with him on and off all day, and can tell he is in bad shape and scared for his children's sake.
Prayers and good thoughts appreciated.

You have my prayers Mark.
And fiery auto crashes
Some will die in hot pursuit
While sifting through my ashes
Some will fall in love with life
And drink it from a fountain
That is pouring like an avalanche
Coming down the mountain

Thank you very much folks for the responses.
He sounds a bit better today on the phone, but his bilirubin readings are off the charts, and they have drained fluid out of him yet again. There are conflicting test results in regards to liver failure in his blood work, as well as imaging of the abdomen. Liver is enlarged a bit, but other than that appears healthy looking via CT, and US.
So far on the Covid front, he is maintaining just a low grade fever, and a mild cough. He has no breathing problems so far which is a good sign. Right now it seems his main problem is trying to stand and walk, as the fatigue level is extreme between the two conditions combined with zero sleep. Anyone here that has ever been hospitalized knows it's next to impossible to sleep.
I feel like this is going to be a long haul for him, and the worst part is not being able to see anyone. His mother is up here with the kids, but none of them can see him short of via video calls. I pray he makes it, but I have an uneasy feeling in my gut. Time to turn it all over to God.
Thanks again.

Prayers for your friend Marc. Best wishes for total recovery!
Just got the call I was unfortunately expecting.
They will retest him for Covid on Wednesday 2/24, and if showing as negative twice, they will be moving him to the transplant floor where biopsies will be done to see if he needs a full transplant, or if a partial will suffice. At that point he will be put on the list. They can't answer the why question as to what caused the acute failure it seems.
Monday is his last day of PTO from his job, and he will have to take unpaid medical leave after that.
Things aren't very pretty for him right now, but he seems to be at peace with where things are, which is very good.
Thanks again.
Prayers for your friend and his family.
If he tests negative, will he at least be able to see his family? This china virus is truly evil. So many left to die alone and families carrying that burden.
Prayers for your friend.-------Ray
I certainly hope, and assume he will be able to have visitors after testing negative. That's probably his biggest worry, is not being able to see his kids (1 girl 10 and 1 boy 12?) as well as his mother who is in town. She just finished a battle with cancer late last year, and his uncle passed from Covid two months ago.
This family has been through a lot recently.

More prayers on the way for your friend.
He finally got off the Covid floor today, and they removed almost 5 liters of fluid from his abdomen. His bilirubin has come down to 14 from a high of 27 (off the charts), but is still way high (normal .5 to 1.5). They were hoping for improvement in the fluid build up (ascites) as well, but that doesn't appear to be happening. The doctors are actually confused as to what exactly is going on with him, and he is in a good hospital.
They are planning on some invasive testing Monday, so at least there is a possibility of an answer. The main worries are sudden total liver failure, or infection of the fluid in the abdomen which would result in sepsis. The poor guy has been in one hospital or another since the night of 1/31 ( I was not aware of his plight until it got very serious).
One ray of sunshine is his kids and mother will be visiting as much as possible this weekend. Thanks for the prayers and thoughts very much.
