4 Trees to take down... giving firewood away...
Comments
Looks like you'll want to familiarize yourself with Ricci's saw thread.
And fiery auto crashes
Some will die in hot pursuit
While sifting through my ashes
Some will fall in love with life
And drink it from a fountain
That is pouring like an avalanche
Coming down the mountain
I have had about 120 trees removed from my 60 acres, they were mature, hard maple, cherry, and poplar and selective harvest keeps the forest healthy. Unfortunately several poplar tree has show shake when cut, it splits the wood vertical along the tree from the duracho winds we had a few years back and they bring less money from the mill.
We had quite a few big oaks logged off last summer, made a tidy little sum, and the logger made some great roads through the place.
Negative. I am paying to have them taken down.
I had around 50 some pines and hardwoods removed off of a rental property a few yrs back. Gave the trees away to a logger to donated the proceeds off of them to a food bank
I just did the opposite! I did remove about 8 dead or fallen trees, but the wife and I planted over 450! I understand you have to make $ BUT it hurts my heart when hardwoods are cut and replaced with long leaf pines. So sick of long leafs. We planted thujas along the road for privacy and sound deadening. Then planted 50 SHORT needle pines because there as so few around now(don't bring easy $ like long leaf). Then we planted close to 100 cypress and oak varieties. I will not see them full grown, but my nephew will get to enjoy them one day.
My late friend who was 91 years old at the time, was planting trees around his property when I asked him why he would be doing this at such a late time in his life.
His reply will stick with me for the rest of my years. "If I thought about things the way you obviously are, I would have died way back when I was a spry 70 year old!"
im still clearing hurricane debris, takes a lot longer than it used to.
This thread has had me out in my woods measuring up all of my Red Pines. 12" diameter at chest high and 44 feet tall is what my area tree guys are looking for. Those are minimum requirements. I need to do some counting but the snow is too deep for an old guy right now. My place is loaded with mature R|P's but what is never usually mentioned with clearing a property is stump removal. That in itself is quite an expensive endeavor.
I have neighbors that have had their fields cleared of Red Pines and the stump jungle never goes away and really depreciates not only the looks but the values of properties.
Job complete... folks on way to pick up wood.
